Very good

The room 210 was tired, needed a make over and a good clean especially the carpet. The bathroom window would not close, and there was damp on the ceiling.
Breakfast was good. Coffee too strong.
Shops were a good walk away.

Breakfast excellent. Good quality food served promptly by friendly staff.
Room a little tired - particularly the ensuite. No complimentary toiletries other than soap.
Very friendly atmosphere & helpful. Easy to check in parking available too. Very close to the promenade & beach. Railway station within walking distance & plenty of places to eat if not at the hotel. Stunning breakfast & all the staff were lovely.

Old fashioned
Old fashioned hotel rather dated and shabby in places but clean and welcoming. Location excellent overlooking sea close to everything. Added bonus of private gardens front and rear to relax in. Staff couldnt be more helpful. Made a pleasant change from corporate style hotel chains. The Aston Court is more net curtains and comfy chairs in the lounge/bar.

The hotel is rather grand looking and conveniently faces the seafront although I didn't have a seaview room.
The hotel is old and smells truly stuffy in the corridors that I had to hold my breath. The room has kettle tea/coffee facilities, tv, bathtub and a great shower. I couldn't use the bath as there was rust around the plug hole and so not particularly inviting (as did the sink). I was quite cold in my room during the day so went to use the extra blanket in the cupboard but it smelled so bad, in fact I couldn't use that cupboard at all to hang my clothes as that too smelled rather bad so i just used the chair to drape my stuff over it. The duvet had a cigarette burn on it and the bed wasn't so great. It was super basic. That said, the staff were great, helpful and super friendly and the breakfast options were fantastic with delicious mushrooms and scrambled eggs and excellent coffee.
Fast Reception
.Frendly staff
Very Greasy breakfast swimming in oil which was a pity..for us statin users..
All in sll good but mot wkrth 109 in september
The staff were very friendly and attentive.
The breakfast was also very good.
We did however have problems with getting water hot and cold to the shower being on the second floor. Although the rooms require updating they were very clean and value for money. I did find the mattress slightly uncomfortable and would probably recommend renewing.
I spent three nights at Ashton Court Hotel in Exmouth and it was a pretty poor experience all round. The hotel is extremely dated and run down. The staff are nice enough but working in premises that need some updating. Carpets are dirty, decor is tired and facilities are cheap. My room (202) wasn’t particularly clean when I arrived, although the bedding was and actually very comfortable. Rooms are so close together that you can basically hear noise all the time, and slamming doors and creaking floorboards don’t help!
I tried the bar on the first night which was fine. I attempted to use it on the third night but there was no sign of anyone to serve me so I decided to get a drink elsewhere. The TV in my room didn’t work at first until I fiddled with the aerial cable and it suddenly sprang into life.
The shower in my room was particularly dangerous as it seemed impossible to regulate the temperature with any consistency. It was either scalding hot or ice cold and every small attempt to adjust it caused a dramatic swing to the opposite of what it was doing. That wasn’t enjoyable at all.
On the second day there were plumbers on the premises and signs displayed advising there could be an interruption to water supplies. It didn’t particularly bother me as I was going out but with a relatively full hotel that’s unfortunate.
All in all a disappointing experience. I accept it’s not the most expensive hotel but certain aspects of it could be improved in my opinion. I won’t be returning.
After a slight misunderstanding about our two canine companions, we were given a bigger room and a discount for the pups. The room was a little dated but clean and comfortable. Breakfast was ordered and brought up from the restaurant to the modern and spacious dog friendly bar area, extra sausages for the dogs went down well. There is large unsecure garden at the back with squirrel entertainment and the hotel is close to the high street and beach. Anastasia and the team were very friendly and helpful, we would definitely stay again.
Amazing staff made us feel more like friends than paying guests. room was very clean and comfortable, only slight downside was if you wanted a shower you had to play Russian roulette with the temperature as the shower was incorporated with the taps so any change in water pressure dictated if you were cold or scolded. Easy fix we used the bathtub. So no real issue. Would use again without a second thought.
