Had a fantastic stay here! An absolutely beautiful and spacious property located just a short walk from the village and a half hour drive from the coast. We spent time in San Sebastián as well as other nearby towns and villages, went for some stunning walks, and ate some great food. The host (Beki) was exceptionally helpful and friendly throughout the entire stay. Would 100% recommend!

A lovely peaceful stay

We had a lovely week staying in this house. The host Beki was very welcoming, met us in the village to guide us to the house and gave us a tour and information about the house, appliances and garden. She also gave us some recommendations of places to visit and great restaurants in the surrounding area. It was also good to know she was only a message away, should we need anything (which we didn't). We found the house to be well-equipped with everything we needed for a weeklong stay. It was clean and spacious! It's in a high up position above the village so we had excellent views looking over the village and surrounding landscape. It's also well connected with nature - in the evenings we loved sitting on the balcony watching the red squirrels in the trees and listening to the tinkling of bells of nearby animals.

Beautiful rural Basque house

We had a wonderful stay in this rural Basque house. It was clean, spacious and well equipt. Amazing views across to Etxalar. The garden was a little over grown. We enjoyed the short steep walk into town to the bars and shops. Access to the property by car was a little challenging and not for the nervious driver. We would throughly recommend this property.

We have stayed in Etxalar for 1 week during our summer holidays

The house is wonderful. We very much enjoyed hiking visiting the beach and making city trips.

Spanish countryside at its best.

The only thing that could have been better was the weather, but in May it can be a challenge almost anywhere. However, we still managed to do some hiking, spent time in the wonderful town of Etxalar, enjoyed the local restaurant/bar/bakery, enjoyed the local people very much, as well as the farm / countryside life, taking in the wonderful drives to St.Jean de Luz in France, San Sebastian, etc.. It was a wonderful stay and Beki was a 'peach' and most helpful.

Great, peaceful property for a family of 5 with adult(ish) children

Easy access to San Sebastián, Biarritz etc but tucked away in the heart of Basque with just fantastic views. BBQ's and Spotify streaming are a must for our family. Just the job as no neighbours to worry about. To be fair Beki is a kind of neighbour and was always on hand to help. The drive to the property is an experience but you can't get views without going up a bit. The only niggle was with being 6'3" the 4'6" bed was cosy. Would definitely go back.

Lovely home in the hills of Basque Country

The home was beautiful and in a wonderful spot in the hills above Etxalar. Beki, who lives nearby,was very helpful and took care of all our needs. I can't think of a better spot to stay in northern Basque Country. Etxalar is a lovely town and quite near to many mountain hikes, villiages and sea shore towns like San Sebastián and St Jean De Luz. We spent 10 days and hope to return.

Peaceful hilltop house

Well equipped mountain house, beautiful views, tinkling of cow/sheep bells. Nice village with good cafe for food and drinks. Steep partially paved road to property. Great access to San Sebastián and beyond. Peaceful!!!

Lovely house in a beautiful setting

The house is beautiful, very comfortable and well-furnished with plenty of space and with lovely views of the surrounding hills and Etxalar down in the valley. We particularly enjoyed sitting on the balcony looking at the views, admiring the birds of prey circling overhead, soothed by the sound of bells and the scent of honeysuckle. We also had fun exploring the book collection - some quirky choices, others, like the guidebooks, very useful. The road to the house twists and turns and we definitely needed Beki to show us the way when we first arrived. We soon discovered that it was surprisingly quick to walk down to Etxalar to the local shop, the bar and the wonderful Basque restaurant. It is a great area for hikes from the door - including over the border into France and Beki helped us out with suggestions of places to visit. A fabulous base for exploring this part of the Pyrenees.

Great stay

Stayed here with my wife, 1 year old son and my parents. Great house and views with plenty of space and well equipped. Beki was a great host. Beautiful part of the world and all so green, could have mistaken the scenery for Switzerland. We had day trips to Biarritz, St Jean De Luz, San Sebastian, Bilbao and Pampolma, all within 1.5 hours.

A house to be enjoyed in a beautiful setting

A distinctive chalet-style house which is quirkily and lovingly decorated (and filled with interesting books). The downstairs is open plan with a lovely large terrace so it's a lovely space to spend time in. The views over the valley and village are beautiful. The house was very clean and well equipped. Beki and family could not do enough for us and were available for tips/questions or just a chat. Accessible to French and Spanish towns and beaches which we enjoyed visiting. To be recommended.

Wonderful house

Really nice house, very friendly owners and located at the border of the nice village of Extalar in a beautiful area with eagles etc. We stayed for 5 nights in July 2015 and it was very relaxing. Would love to keep this quiet place a secret, but that would be selfish. Highly recommended. Huib, the Netherlands

Wunderbarer, erholsamer Urlaub

Die Lage und Großzügigkeit des Hauses, die Einrichtung und die Umgebung sind traumhaft. Man kann in alle Richtungen wandern, in nahen Flüssen baden und auch die größeren Städte an der Küste sind nicht weit. Die Vermieterin war sehr nett, unkompliziert und hilfsbereit. Wir waren mit unseren zwei Söhnen und Hund dort und haben alle den Aufenthalt sehr genossen. Familie Schwedler-Krebs

Nous avons beaucoup apprécié notre séjour dans cette très belle maison au calme avec une vue magnifique. Emplacement parfait pour visiter le Pays Basque. Le chemin pour accéder à la maison est atypique mais parfaitement pratiquable. Accueil de Beki++ t Beki a est très accueillants

Vacances à Etxalar

La maison est très agréable et bien aménagée, nous avons apprécié le calme de l'endroit et la gentillesse de notre hôtesse. Le chemin d'accès est bétonné et ne présente pas de difficulté particulière. Le village d'Etxalar est très beau avec ses maisons basques.

Un lieu d'émerveillement

Une maison au plus près des forêts et des montagnes, très belle à l'intérieur, elle est elle même comme une invitation au voyage. Béki la propriétaire est extrêmement sympathique et avenante.

Excellent séjour

Très bon accueil de la propriétaire, bienveillante tout au long du séjour. Bien que l’accès au logement reste atypique, ce dernier réserve de belles surprises. Dépaysement, calme, paysage de toute beauté sont au rendez-vous. Le logement est par ailleurs spacieux et propre. Les conditions sont réunies pour un bon séjour.

Magnifique chalet avec vue époustouflante

Nous avons passé un très agréable séjour. Le chalet est spacieux et très bien équipé. Nous n'avons manqué de rien. L'hôtesse est très gentille et très accueillante. Le chemin d'accès est très pentu plus adapté à un SUV. Nous recommandons ce logement qui est proche de St jean de Luz, d'Espelette et du train de la Rhune. Visites que nous conseillons vivement.

Tolles Haus in wunderschöner Umgebung

Wir waren zehn Tage mit unseren beiden Kindern in diesem tollen Haus. Beki hat uns sehr nett empfangen und war stets für uns erreichbar. Das Haus ist wirklich wunderschön, geräumig, sauber und gut ausgestattet. Ein echtes Kleinod in der Natur. Einzig die Anfahrt mit dem Auto ist etwas holprig, aber gut machbar. Etwas außerhalb von Etxalar. Der Vorteil: man ist direkt in der Natur und einer wunderschönen Umgebung. Der Nachteil, man muss eigentlich für alles mit dem Auto fahren. Wir hatten einen wunderschönen Aufenthalt. Vielen Dank Beki

Sfeervol huis net buiten het dorp.

Ruim huis in traditionele stijl gebouwd. Beneden gecombineerde kamer, keuken en toilet). Erg praktisch ingericht. Boven drie slaapkamers (twee met wat smalle tweepersoonsbedden en een met twee eenpersoonsbedden) en twee badkamers. Zowel beneden als boven balkons. Huis ligt net buiten het dorp Etxalar. Stijl weggetje naar het huis was voor ons goed te doen, maar voor sommige mensen zal het een uitdaging zijn. Dorp ligt centraal voor allerlei uitstapjes naar binnenland of de kust.
