If six stars were available , I would happily give that rating! This lovely mansion has been transformed into an elegant hotel. Our room was spacious and comfortable, with great amenities. Breakfast is great and served either outdoors on the patio or in the lovely dining room. There is a cocky grey parrot who appears in the morning, however he would not deign to talk with me.
The best thing about the hotel is their manager and staff. Courteous, friendly and enthusiastic about making sure the hotel service is extra special!
We will stay here again!
Philippe and his wife have just taken this over, a fantastic host, service superb, currently undertaking renovations but still a beautiful property. Would definitely stay again. We wish Philippe all the success in the world.
Lovely old house. Comfort room with pretty furnishing in good condition. Very welcoming front desk staff. Unfortunately there was construction going on in the adjacent room on the morning of our departure, which was quite loud, but it did not begin until 9 AM. the only other negative is that the parking and courtyard Are all gravel and rocks and that it is impossible to roll suitcases. Our language is very heavy, and I had to carry it.
We stayed at this hotel for one night in August and had a wonderful experience. Our room was spacious, clean, and tastefully decorated. The couple managing the property were attentive and extremely helpful. The hotel is conveniently located within a short and pleasant walk to the city center. We also enjoyed a lovely breakfast in the hotel’s garden.

A bit faded but still going strong
Really nice older property with large rooms, huge garden and nice pool. Breakfast very nice, local cheeses and nice pastries, and you can have it outside if you like. Great location easy walking distance to the old town and lots of places to eat.
This hotel is not a 3 star. The bedding while clean was stained. The towels are old and we had to ask for toilet paper! The garden is pretty but useless as you can not even take a coffee out there. The coffee was poor and expensive. The Manager Fabien, he was very pleasant but could not make up for the bad state of the hotel.
Only spent one night in Auxerre. This hotel has a beautiful patio/pool area during the summer. The rooms themselves are big enough and nice enough. The breakfast room is very nice and the owners are sweet and helpful.
Les Marechaux was a tremendous discovery. Amazing historic building, warm welcome, comfortable rooms and sumptuous breakfast, it’s also just a 10 minute walk from the old town of the delightful Auxerre, with its bars full of delicious Burgundy and enticing restaurants. It was tremendously good value too! I’ll be back in the summer and enjoyed every minute.
The room in this nice family run hotel was a nostalgic reminder of my stays in France years ago. It was nicely furnished, even if a little worn in places. The hostess was charming and helpful at check in. Unfortunately her husband was the opposite at breakfast the next morning, punishing us with attitude and impatience at our not being French.
