Hotel cancelled my stay and I can't get refunded

The hotel contacted me to say there was an issue with the booking and I would have to find somewhere else to say and wouldn't have to pay despite the money having come out my account already. I contacted hotels.com to get a refund but apparently they can't get in contact with the hotel so won't refund me.

No key in lock box at front door was only able to gain access to flat again after being let into stairwell Plenty potential at property just need a few basic touches such as lampshades or clearer instructions for things such as towels or cleanliness for kitchen plates cutlery etc
