The building was old with single paine windows with shutters that a one inch gap between them. Not the best for the early sunrises in Edinburgh. The bathroom was the size of a phone booth and the pillows were as thin as a folded face towel. We had two suitcases and you could barely move in the room because there no space for the suitcases. Would NOT RECOMMEND this hotel to anyone!

Room not at all as pictured. Beds were clean and comfy, staff was very nice, but the room was not the nice one in the picture and was small and not that well appointed. It was also quite hot (no fans available) and very noisy all night. Could hear every voice, footstep, and door in the building.

It was a lovely old home that needed a wee bit of repair. The floor in our toilet was cracked and smelled of urine around the toilet. However the bed was clean and very comfortable and staff was very nice.
Room pleasant, bed comfortable, shower amazing. Near to playhouse. Bus across road.
Good valve for money.

Very easy to find.
Good check-in.
No offer of WiFi code.
The interior could do with an update, looks a bit tired.
The room was a good size, again could do with a refresh. Bed was comfy, pillows could do with being replaced for newer ones.
Room was warm.
Other residents were noisy with allowing their doors to bang close.
Generally good stay for couple of nights for a family, big room for 2 adults and 2 children, toilet and shower clean, the hotel not far from central edinbrough, bus stop in front of the hotel, but not offering any meals at all, you have to buy food from outside.

Very clean. Wifi was spotty. Not close to many attractions. No food service but 15 minutes to restaurants and supermarket.

Basic hotel to explore Edinburgh on a budget
I stayed at Edinburghhouse hotel as a bed for the night following completion of my walking holiday from Glasgow. My check-in was smooth and my room was basic, but clean and comfortable. The shower had clearly been replaced recently and was modern. The WiFi did not work, but this may have been due to my iPad not liking the security setting of the router. The local area of Leith Walk has a massive array of pubs, cafes and restaurants to explore; important as there are no catering facilities in the building. For the ~14 hrs I spent here, this was much cheaper than staying in more "luxury" in the centre.

The room is dusty. And the front desk person was not friendly.
The location was excellent and we had what we needed. However the wifi was nearly worthless, we were only given a single room key, and half of the electric outlets in the room didn't function, the shower door only opened halfway due to the way it was retrofitted making it impossible for a large (not huge, just plain large) person to use. Unforgivable were the intentionally deceptive photos used to advertise the property. I booked a quad room, there are photos of several beautiful rooms posted; none of these represented the dingy underground room I was given.

Basic, but clean.
Hotel is on the basic side, so of course it would be unfair to compare to a big brand.
It’s a little run down, though with exception of a previous guest leaving some half eaten food in the night stand, clean and functional.
Shower had plenty of hot water and pressure, no concerns regarding noise from anyone else.
For a place to rest your head while exploring the local area, I can’t complain.
This place was perfect for what we needed. It's not luxury by any stretch but you aren't paying for luxury. It was comfy, clean and did everything we need. The staff on the desk was very nice. The building itself is absolutely beautiful. Definitely worth a stay if you dont want to pay ridiculous prices
