The check in was great!! Valet was great.. Got up to our room what a beautiful space it was. Our room did have a running toilet it did it probably every ten minutes, even with the toilet room door shut. We were on the fourth floor our room was a little toasty and we had the air turned down. The bed was amazing. Shower was a little confusing, but we got it. The continental breakfast at the hotels restaurant was good the first day we got a plate with bacon, I like bacon but this bacon wasn’t done I couldn’t eat it. They really don’t explain to you like what to expect like we didn’t know you had to wait for a receipt it’s kinda embarrassing when you’ve never been to a place so you don’t know what to expect don’t was just odd.. over all the stay was great the atmosphere is great.

I go to Detroit 2-3 times a year and usually try to stay in different places. Well no more! This hotel is awesome, albeit a little expensive, you get what you pay for. Staff and valets are great and very helpful with anything. The bar and restaurant was also amazing. One note, it's a little pricey but a great stay. If I'm downtown I'm staying here again

Nothing special and customer service was average. When attempting to reach out in regards to unknown charges there is no direct number to reach out. When I did finally found a number to reach to, I believe it was an Ai Automated who couldn’t comprehend my question or resolve my issue instead hung up the call. Location is also horrible- you can hear everything from the street.

The Shinola is one of a kind and what a great stay. Brunch at the San Morella was very good. The bar is also recommended. Rooms were gracious and well appointed. I cannot wait to stay there again. Also, conveniently located near Mad cap coffee which is amazing

While I was impressed with the on-site dining options and the overall customer experience (amiable and professional staff; excellent furnishings and fixtures, overall design aesthetic, etc.), I did take serious issue with a couple details that a hotel of the Shinola's caliber should be on top of, including: My overriding issue is with the acoustics of the room. I was situated on the 5th floor, but was absolutely able to hear every street sound (cars, music, etc.) and conversation being had by pedestrians! Its outstounding to me that a 5-star downtown hotel has not anticipated noise issues and addressed them through insulation and triple-pained windows. My only other minor complaints include a bathroom sink that quickly backed up; the sliding bathroom door demanded maximal force to close; and when I went to get into bed it was evident that their was not fitted sheet on the bed, and the base sheet had not been tucked in, so I was compelled to tuck it in myself so as not to sleep on the mattress cover directly.

The Shinola Hotel exceeded my expectations. It was amazing in every way. From the moment we arrived, the customer service was exceptional, making us feel welcome and valued. The rooms were beautifully designed and clean. The atmosphere was the perfect balance of luxury and comfort, and the staff goes above and beyond to ensure your stay is unforgettable. Without a doubt, this will be the only place I stay whenever I visit Detroit.

The hotel was amazing. The room doors are different as you have to push them. Ours did not open and nobody prepped us for how they up open as the handle does not turn. A bell hop came up with us and had to put his shoulder full force into the door to open, and he simply told us we have to push harder. Other than that, the stay was lovely and the restaurant staff is also top notch.

We did not have air in our room. Being that it was 89degrees we were very uncomfortable in our suite. Also, an individual right outside the hotel played music full volume from 2:30am to 4:00am before staff at the hotel finally handled the situation. Shinola hotel is extremely well kept and should be for the price. We did not sleep well. I will say at 4am the hotel staff did move us from the 2nd floor to the 8th…. So we could finally get a few hours of sleep before checking out

The Classiest Boutique Hotel Downtown Detroit 100%

This place NO MATTER WHAT is going on, on the outside world..let me down. In fact and i will surely never especially now a days say that about too many properties in the Downtown Detroit vicinity and inner/outer suburbian areas such as..Troy, Southfield Farmington..just a lot of hype with not much else. The Shinola prides themselves on a one of a kind, unique, personalized experience whether yolur 1st or 5th time. Each time is a new experience, adventure scenery. All of the bedding/beds is PLUSH! If you have stuff things too do, hit the bed last thing bc you WILL MELT right into it. Honestly could rant and rave about this entire place however, seeing is believing. If you are looking for peaceful, blackout, hot showers, in room dining and just some good ole me time heres your place. You want a terrace balcony room with a mini bar anc in the heart of the party, this is a classy, boutique hotel. No self parking. Valet only.Within walking distance of anything your heart fancies!!
