It was very quiet and just a lovely place to stay.

I enjoted my stay at the hotel. The old world experience of staying in a building that was built for people and not for profit was great. The room size was very generous and I felt comfortable. The fittings were all in good order and well maintained. The view of the roof immediately outside the window was not what I had hoped for but it did show that maintainence on the roof was needed. The small beech trees growing on the rafters needs urgent attention. The shower also needs a clear warning attached to it as the way the shower is plumbed the pressure in the pipes is not moderated by a thermostatic valve. This means that one minute the water temperature is ok but the next, the water is either scalding hot or freezing cold!! On balance, I would use the hotel again. It is a bastion against the intrusions of modern new buildings and needs preserving at all costs!!

From check in to check out, the service provided was excellent. The staff were ever helpful and couldn’t do enough to ensure we had a pleasant stay. The food options ranged from exceptional restaurant to bar snacks, all of which were delicious. The ‘sports facilities’ were limited but more than adequate. Lovely walk around the estate. We will definitely return.
