A very popular day trip is the steam train from Haverthwaite up to Windermere on the Haverthwaite Steam Railway. Well worth a visit is Lakeland Motor Museum. Dalton railway station gives easy access to Barrow-in-Furness, or in the southerly direction, to Grange-over-Sands, Arnside and Lancaster. To the north of Dalton-in-Furness is the spectacular Duddon Estuary and Duddon Valley, with Cartmel and Grizedale Forest within easy reach. Beach 3 miles. Shop ½ mile, pub and restaurant 1 mile.
