I regret staying at this hotel, it shows as family friendly but under 18s can’t use any of the facilities. The hotel is in need of a VERY serious update. Also no room service option

Great stay but needs some love.

The hotel and grounds are impressive overall, and the staff and service and breakfast excellent. Sadly the facilities are tired, the rooms have peeling wallpaper and grubby doors and carpets, there was no bath mat, the pillows were not great. The charge to use the pool was ok though cleanliness and paint in the spa needs addressing. Hot tub was not overly hot. I wouldn't want to pay double room prices (I had a single this time) but hope it improves in future as it is a fun place to visit. The golf course looks amazing.

The room [138] was lovely but was let down by the absolute distasteful condition of the reading table. I spent an hour trying to remove congealed food remains from the surface. To no avail. Was only staying the one night so thought best not to hassle the management. Breakfast was gorgeous, bumped into the best of the Legends from Strictly and that made up for the aberration. Hope management will pick up this review if only to give that table a firm thorough polish!!

We did the twilight spa and stayed overnight. Loved the whole spa experience with the added bonus of a heated outdoor pool with stunning views over Manchester and beyond. The bar area in the hotel could benefit from a bit of a refurb ie paint and chairs and the corridors to the rooms look a bit tired. Our ceiling in the shower was stained and could do with a bit of paint but overall everywhere was clean, the food was delicious and the breakfast was really good with plenty of selection on offer. The venue itself is stunning and we will definitely book again as although some areas needed a touch of paint the staff were very welcoming and helpful and the hall is stunning.

The grounds and views are lovely, easy parking and the spa pool on the walk down from the carpark looked good. Easy check in. However, it’s all very dated and the room I stayed in was incredible tired looking. The furniture was old, chipped paint, dirty, incredibly loose floorboards under the carpet. There were spiders in the corners of the room, some dead, the mattress was very old and hard. Tired bathroom that had a dripping tap in the shower, dusty shelf, just not what you’d expect really. At one point in the evening, someone was smoking and it was coming through the vent in my bathroom! The worst part was the noise, the floor boards are so loose under the carpet that I could hear next door walking round in the evening and then from just before 7am they woke up and walked round and round their bedroom and I could hear their conversation the walls are that thin. They eventually went down for breakfast, one person at 7.30 and one at 7.45 so the incessant walking round noise stopped then the gardener outside started his lawnmower at 7.45am!!!! That was the final straw for me.

A mixed bag.

A mixed bag. The hotel really caters for large groups, (golfers, conferences, weddings etc) so as a couple we felt ignored. Our room was not refreshed, our TV didn't work and it took 2 out of our 3 evenings there for it to be sorted, we seemed to have a party outside our room until 3am. It is a shame because the spa( extra payment) is lovely and the position of the hotel couldn't be better but not for a couple seeking a weekend away in a country house hotel.
