Roydon Island Retreat

This property is all you will need for that great family holiday and all at a great price! With 3 bedrooms consisting of a queen bed, a double bed and 2 sets of bunks, with the master bedroom having the addition of an ensuite.

Features include 2 living areas, split system heating and cooling, laundry and a large, fully equipped kitchen with electric cooking appliances and ample crockery, cutlery and utensils to cook up a family feast.

Enjoy a Bbq on the deck whilst watching the kids play in the fully fenced yard.

Pets are welcome - strictly outside only (Conditions apply)

Guests are required to bring their own sheets, pillowcases, towels, bathmats and tea towels.

Great location, but low value for price

The house is in a great spot and the layout is good, with large bedrooms. Great ensuite to main, good size family bath and separate toilet. Not dirty when we arrived, but not really clean either, with a lot of dust and grit on most surfaces (high season). A few small broken items (toilet seat falling off, lightbulb out, cupboard door in kitchen falling on your foot when you open it) were fixed after some follow up, but in my mind should have been checked, reported to us and at least scheduled to be fixed before we started our stay. The deck is borderline dangerous with loose boards and nails sticking up all over in the back, broken clothesline means no way to dry washing which is very annoying for a longer stay (they did say there is a clothes horse to dry things on when we reported the clothesline issue and we did find it eventually in one of the wardrobes - it’s one of those very small ones you might be able to dry some underwear on, but nothing bigger than a tshirt so not particularly helpful for a family of six). NO WIFI at property which would have been good to know ahead of time with four teens! Beds not as described, with extra single in 2nd bedroom (with queen bed) but one less in ‘bunk room’ with an extremely lumpy futon as the base for one of the bunks. This might not be a big deal for some, but it meant that the bed linen we brought did not match the beds etc and the sleeping arrangements had to be changed. When asking us to bring our own linen (which is standard and not an issue) it’s important that the actual beds are as described on the listing to make them usable, and is an easy fix for the lister to make to avoid this. No dishwasher, so not ‘fully equipped’ kitchen, but there is plenty of glassware, mugs, cutlery and crockery, which is good! Not a single square of toilet paper provided, which was not ideal after a long drive and just makes it seem stingy as a first impression. Basically it’s a nice enough house in a good spot, easy beach access and easy walk to town, but overall low value - premium price without any premium inclusions, very uncomfortable couches, beds not very comfy, and a few bits that make the holiday more stressful (nowhere to dry towels/bathers, hand washing dishes, no wifi) and take away from the overall experience.

Great property in top location! Perfect family holiday with our pet dog too! Only issue was not being able to pay the real estate agent in cash or transfer and being forced into paying an additional 1% fee to visa/MasterCard. I really think this issue needs to be rectified.

Lovely house, very spacious

The house was in a great position and had heaps of room. It is a queen bed in the main bedroom not double as the listing states so had to go and buy a queen sheet. The house is extremely dusty, mirrors have not been cleaned in a long time, we drew pictures in the dust. Was some hairs in the shower and my son refused to have a bath because it was so dusty. Needs a good cobweb. Otherwise loved the house, amazing selection of board games and dvd's for the kids. We found electric blankets in the cupboards and popped them on our beds which was great as it was a cold weekend.

Great location!

Located in close proximity to the beach and shops. Large kitchen and dining area for families. Enclosed back yard, fenced and gated deck, prefect for pets! Plenty of sleeping room for large families.

Great location - short walk to everything

We had a great stay at the house. The location is great, our three-year-olds, happily walked to the beach and into town. The house was large with two massive living areas and three big bedrooms. Backyard was huge, the dog loved it. It was a bit dusty though and some of the beds had things under them. Overall, we were happy with our stay.

We found the accommodation to be a good size for us - 5 adults and 2 children. The yard was very large and secure for our 2 little dogs. It was a short distance to shops and eateries and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Only nuisance, and this in no way reflects on the property, were the noisy neighbours across the road who partied loudly both nights we were there. First night was the worst.

Great location!

Plenty of room, easy walk to beach or shops, even with kids (age 8+). Lots of outdoor room for kids and dog and good shelter for dog outside. Lots of extras like bikes in shed, wetsuits for kids, stuff to use at the beach, ie enflatable ring. Comfy beds. :)

Winter recharge between lockdowns

Really great. Would recommend people bring own toilet paper and tea towels. Also was supposed to receive text from agent for the key box but had to call to find out. Otherwise really great experience despite the winter weather. Great location near beach and shops, lots of space.
