Perfect Hotel for a stay in Colonia

Amazing unique apartment experience in the heart of Colonia, This place is very clean with great decorations. The check in process is easy and the staff is extremely nice. Just off of the main street so it was quiet at night time but close enough to the main street to have plenty of restaurant options. Highly recommended.

Rooms with great art atmosphere

Very nice ”homestay”. 4 great roms all with it’s own art Influence. Luis the owner was very helpful in advicing restaurant and what else to do in the small but very beutiful Colonia town. Good basic breakfast.

This was a very unique B and B. Older building with lots of interestingly decorated walls. Fabulous breakfast esp purchased gluten free for my wife. Comfortable sitting room with a fireplace for the cold weather when we stayed. Lots of books and information plus great suggestion on restaurants. Very personal owner. Would definitely recommend. Not your usual rooms but quite interesting.

Colonia Suites is a boutique hotel. It is a wonderful, genuine, warm space where you feel like at home while enjoying all the amenities of a great hotel. Luis runs the place and he makes sure you enjoy the place while appreciating the care and thought put into the place. I will be back to Colonia and ColoniaSuite.

Immaculate and prime location

Luis is the consummate host and property was in perfect location to walk anywhere in Colonia district. He has 4 apartments and ours was immaculately furnished and most comfortable bed ever. Luis was very helpful and obliging when we needed documents printed and to collect our bags later in the day. He also provided a map, relevant tourist information and where to eat etc. Could highly recommend!

Charming small hotel in Colonia.

We stayed one night during a brief trip over from Buenos Aires and loved the suite. The room was large and comfortable. The included breakfast was also great. Very close to the old colonial town and walking distance from the ferry port.

Very artistic home, just like home away from home

We stayed here for three nights, our first visit to Colonia. We got a email a few days before our arrival and the owner was there to greet us - and he was there waiting for a late arrival one of those nights too. He gave us good information about the town - a Frenchman who speaks good English :-) The two rooms upstairs are absolutely lovely and spacious. Our balcony overlooks the very lush courtyard. The entire house and rooms are full of paintings, books and artwork, like a little museum. We were there by ourselves the first night, so it was like being home. The morning staff, Jackie was great. She prepared lovely breakfast and communicate with us through google translate :-) She showed us how to walk the beach, take the bus to Montevideo, eat at the Drugstore restaurant (great place) or rent a golf cart etc, extremely helpful and friendly. The king size bed is very firm and comfortable, linen is great, and small kitchen area in our room too. We did not utilize his tape library but watch a English movie on TV, very relaxing.

Fred was great!

We only spoke limited spanish, and though the manager Fred only spoke spanish he did a great job of speaking slowly and clearly so that we could understand him and express our questions. The place itself was beautiful and we highly recommend it!

Too expensive for this mildew smelling room!

Although it looked quite quaint on Expedia's site (especially the main living room area), the actual bedroom we stayed in was disapointing as it smelled of mildew. The bathroom was old and in much need of a serious update as well. The price of $148 US dollars for this room facing the street was way too expensive and we felt quite disappointed with Expedia's recommendation. The breakfast was satisfactory even though we were only presented with one mini pancake per person...no seconds offered which was unfortunate as it was a very delicious 2 biter.

Do not book!

We were never able to stay at this hotel. We went to the hotel only to find the doors locked. It is a small hotel with only a few rooms and it has a doorbell. We rang the door bell for 15 minutes and called their phone repeatedly. No one answered the phone or the door. It was now 10:30 pm and we had no way of getting access to check in. Evidently, they didn't want our business.

An absolute gem

Lovely, quirky suite with gobs of artwork, books to borrow, dvds, tv if you want it. We stayed upstairs in the front and it was very quiet...would return in a heartbeat. Colonial is very small, but a must to get an idea of Uruguay minus huge Montevideo. Uruguay is home to the Asada, a huge platter of grilled meats, but there are now a few veggie places which are excellent. Have fun.

A jewelbox of a hotel

Colonia Suite Apartments is so comfortable and charming. We loved all of the artwork, the brick walls, wood floors, and stained glass windows. Oh, and the beautiful courtyard. One of the prettiest hotels we have every stayed in.

Coziest place to stay in Colonia

We really had a fantastic stay at the Bungalow suite, and it was a lovely smal place with a patio just outside our door. We recommend this place especially for couples.

Local maravilhoso!!! Vontade de ficar mais tempo para curtir as acomodações. Uma casa aconchegante, com plantas, livros, obras de arte, sensação de paz. Luis é como um amigo querido, que nos recebe em sua casa e se preocupa com o nosso bem estar. Café da manhã preparado com muito carinho, com várias opções e tudo delicioso.
