The property location was great, close to the beach and restaurants. The property itself could use some upgrading as it’s a bit dated. The area around the jacuzzi is a beautiful spot; however, it has glass all around it that was filthy and took away from enjoying the view. We likely had the worst view in the whole hotel. Our balcony looked onto the wall of the next building. They offer beach chairs, umbrellas, and body boards by the beach which was nice since we forgot our own beach chairs. We used the free bikes to ride around town. They were very old without any gears so be prepared for a workout. The check-in/check-out situation was a mess with people everywhere. All in all we give the resort a 3/5. The place has great potential if they put a little money in it for an upgrade.

Carlsbad Inn is great. We noticed this time around a lot of focus on time share folks. Cleanliness seemed a little lax from last time. Example: same empty plastic water cup on a table that we passed a few times. Pretty strict on bike rentals (you need a drivers license) so teenage sons didn’t love that. Towels were also not convenient to get. Rooms did not get housekeeping everyday. We love this place though… great pool, open area, walk to beach and cool spots for food, farmers market, coffee, etc.

This place is nice and we stayed her because of the activities. The problem was that they couldn't get the projector to work. The other issue we had was the loud noise from upstairs.

Spent one night while visiting family. Relaxed in the pool and hot tub. Easy access to beach down some steps. Able to borrow beach toys and chairs from the hotel kiosk at the bottom of the stairs. Great visit.

This place calls itself a resort. It offers no resturant, no bar, poor WiFi and limited staff. We had to call the front desk every time we wanted new towels or have the room serviced.

The location is convenient. We were finally given our keys at 4:20pm and arrived to find the cleaning staff still in there. I asked to put our perishables into the fridge and they were not done until 5pm. We waited outside the room with luggage for 40 minutes. The resort was replacing tvs so elevators were not available and we had made two trips to carry our luggage up three flights of stairs. Even though we weren't in our room from 10 to almost 5pm everyday, housekeeping never serviced our room. It is not an inexpensive place to stay so I expected better.

Great location and accessible to beach and local shops/restaurants. WiFi did not work in our room (150), brought it to the attention of staff but was not fixed during our stay. The condition of the bathroom was not great—red stains on white tile floor, rust on door hinges and vent fan did not work.

We enjoyed the location of this property (close to Legoland, beach, and other areas) and the sparkling pool and laid back atmosphere. You can bring your own food and drink into the pool area which made for some relaxing family time. We did not love our room- the bathroom was a bit grimy and they do not clean rooms daily. It is a timeshare, so you get weekly cleaning. We also had some issues connecting to the WiFi (they have more than one guest network... the password didn't work for any of them.) Overall, we would stay again because the location was so great. Tip- there is an ice machine in the vending machine area to the left of the lobby, and a water dispenser... we brought our stainless steel water bottles and did water and ice every morning, never had to buy expensive water at Legoland, SD Zoo, or the Safari Park.

The only complaint I have is that the shower was very very soft- almost more of a trickle. There was a leak (when turned on) at the faucet that I assume was the reason for there being no water pressure. We had friends who also had a room and their shower was just fine. We did not bring it to the attention of the staff, though, but now I think we should have.

This is a very family friendly place not quiet if you are looking for adult quiet. We did enjoy our stay we are okay with kids having fun. Friendly staff overall kept up very well and clean. No complaints and extremely convenient to walk everywhere and for amenities for the beach.

I paid in full two months prior to my stay for a one bedroom condo unit. I picked this property due to it being walking distance to the beach & all the restaurants and shops in Carlsbad village; the unit I paid for had a king bed with separate sleeping space in the living room for our two kids, a kitchen, and a balcony. Imagine my surprise when I received a phone call from the resort's home office management *the day of our paid reservation check in* telling me we were being relocated to a property that's a ten minute drive away from the beach & Carlsbad village. No apology, reason, or offer of refund was given for the relocation. When I called the resort property itself, I was told they have no control over this when it happens & that it was because management had overbooked their condos. The local resort staff was very apologetic at least. The only option I had to stay on the property that I researched months ahead of time was to stay in a double queen standard hotel room instead. All the room features that I paid to have were non-existent: no king bed, no kitchen, no balcony, no separate sleeping space for my kids. I will be speaking with the home office re: refund options, and again this is not the fault of the local staff. I have never had this happen before with any type of hotel reservation & feel like Expedia needs to know that this is how this management company does business.
