Adequate

Hard to find hotel behind NHS offices not well signposted. First impression Doss house v.shabby even for budget hotel. Staff friendly + bookin easy as manned 24hrs. Bedding, towels clean ; lots of hot water . Large comfortable bed. Breakfast good , plenty buffet full English + some cereals and toast.

When we arrived there was only 1 staff member around and they were in the bar serving . We waited 5 mins in which time someone else came in to book in. My son went to the bar waited for 2 customer's to be served someone went and stood behind my son . When my sun asked if there was anyone on reception the lady say she will be with us now . She then went on and served the man with his drinks before going up to reception. ( Not very good customer service as we had already been waiting in reception for 10 minutes at this time , the man who came into the bar should have been asked to wait while she booked us and the other customer in reception in for our accommodation

Not great from the start, terrible chair access

Upon entering the car park there is very large pot holes, once you get around these you start seeing signs the car park costs money (tho as a guest I think it’s free) Headed to the blue badge spots where the only one left had a bike rack one end meaning the car stuck out a lot I am only able to walk short distances, and as there is no ramp to the front door (staff said they would have to get the ramp out if I needed it) my wife asked where our room was located, with the information of just around the corner I chose to walk our room wasn’t just round the corner and I only just managed to walk there Room smelt of damp, very basic, with NO plugs beside the bed for medical equipment, walls freshly painted, mattress was terrible but all linen was white clean and fresh Next morning head for breakfast, a set of stairs to get to the breakfast room, breakfast was ok but you had to eat in stages eggs would come out then 5 minutes later sausages another 5 minutes for the next item and so on, toast available with corn flakes or rice crispies are your only cereal choices Day 2 breakfast begins at 8am hot food not out til 20 past ish, car park was quite full and had 2 coaches also there having a larger car I had to take my time moving through the car park Overall a cheap hotel with basic facilities I believe there’s a gym there and a ping pong table, suited to workers / tradesmen that want clean with no frills

The Ox is a bit of a dated hotel. There is free parking, if the hotel is busy, spaces are a bit scarce. The break fast was very nice, don't rally cater for Vegetarians, but enough none meat choices to have a descent cooked breakfast. Maybe invest in a coffee machine. The bed clothes and towels were clean which is a good positive. The Ox is a 3 star hotel and this is reflected in the price. It served a purpose and I would definitely stay there again.

Watch out for the massive pot hole at the entrance of car park. Place needs massive renovation. Receptionist did not have a very good customer service BUT, the place is in good location, clean and quiet at night.

A big NO.

Room was cleaned 2 out of 10 days. Bathroom smelled of dampness. Windows were dirty and with spider webs all over. 3 times i was waked up by false fire alarm. Poor breakfast: no fruits or veggies. Most of the food is fried. Dirty glasses for juice. Last 2 days breakfast was “cancelled “ because cook was sick. A mouse was walking freely in the breakfast area.

2 day trip. Good value. Staff friendly. 15 minutes walk ro train station. Frequent bus service. Breakfast hit or miss. Would use again if ever in Carlisle again. Bedding, towels clean and fresh. Room clean.Bath room old but adequate.

Last time we went to Brampton we stayed at Strung of Horses,£68 b and b,this time they wanted £142 ,no way,but i found this little gem on a hill20 mins walk from the action,it was basic but clean and a little dated.it did the job,and was busy eith contractors

Staff was pleasant and did what they could do with what they were dealing with. The building is rundown and enough to make you want to turn away. Inside was better and room was decent. Our shower did not come close to working properly and we ended up taking a half a shower, half a bath.
