Arrived not good impression rubber jigsaw tiles made up the flooring, shown to the bedroom no carpet on floor and had two single beds the linen of which was different on each bed,one of the fitted sheets had blood on it had to ask for that to be changed no hand towels just bath ones accompanied by two small bottles of shampoo no hand soap.Doubt very much if the bathroom had been cleaned has half a bottle of shampoo was still in the shower cubicle from previous occupants.Only one tv in the downstairs area which had to be shared with all guests has no tv in rooms and only has one big table in the dining area .View from our room overlooked the back yard which had old tables and old fridge freezers unit all in all not impressed in fact was prepared to leave straight away and look for somewhere else but wife prevailed and we stayed.Must say it was more like a hostel then a hotel
Check in was terrible could find my booking and showed me laptop screen and it was right there. Got to the room it was dirty no tv kettle was in poor condition my double was two singles that kept spreading. No eating facilities or bar so had to walk to the nearest town. My view was of a caravan’s out the window.
Exterior and entrance very impressive, although does have a difficult access road. Inside was superficially grand. Bedrooms were extremely small and no facilities or TV.
On arrival we were greeted by a lady on the phone who continued her chat loudly whilst showing us to our room, there was very little customer care throughout our stay. It is a shame as the venue has great potential to be an exceptional hotel but I will not be going back any time soon.
After reading reports regarding cleanliness prior to arriving we were a little concerned, however our room was spotless and the beds were massive!! Beautiful bathroom and shower was wonderful.
Know one around when we eventually got into hotel, no reception? Had to phone to tell them we were there, told us it was self check in ? Asked our mane and told us our room number and key would be in the door and breakfast at 7-30. Got to room and immediately saw it had not been cleaned since last client. Rang him back and was told to go to another room. This room was a family room, which was not a problem, had dirty towels in bathroom but at least the beds were tidy and had clean towels on the beds. Breakfast was ok and full English offered but you could make changes to that if you required. Having said all this we were there to walk up Snowden and the hotel was ok for our purpose, no television in room but large tv downstairs to watch and although no evening meal could be had of a nice wine. So lucky enough we brought our own. And the local public house had very good food. The owners who we mainly saw at breakfast time were very nice, it’s just a pity they can not see the scope of there premises and the small amount of attention needed to take it into 3 or 4 star bracket.
No one to meet us on arrival. Spent 30 mins wandering around the hotel in search of anyone. Finally worked out which was our room by searching on an abandoned laptop and the room was dirty and missing all the essentials in the bathroom. A non speaking English member of staff, who we later bumped into, gave no help about anything we needed.

Hotel was nice, but check in was atrocious
Ive never experienced a stay like this in all my years of travel.
We arrived at the hotel to find it in total darkness. We managed to locate a side entrance marked Reception, only to discover Reception doesn't actually exist any more. Along with two other couples we had to try and find our way around. I then tried 8 times to phone a contact number (and have screenshot this for clarity) given on the booking email only to get no reply. This is at 8.45 pm, so not ridiculously late.
We then came across another couple who explained all the rooms have keys in in the doors, you just let yourselves in. Which we all did.
Fifteen minutes later, I received a phone call from a man telling me he was the property manager. When i explained the situation, he was quite sharp, telling me you cant just pick a room. Well, im very sorry but if you had a system that explained exactly how you recieved your room munber more clearly this situation would never have arisen for us or the other guests on that evening. After a six hour drive the last thing anyone needs are complications at the booked accommodation.

Liked: Amenities
Quiet and spacious rooms. However, not enough parking space for guests.
The Manor was beautiful. Furnishings in the lounge area were exquisite and the bedroom just gorgeous. Very comfortable bed and lively bathroom. Location good. A lovely place to stay - wish we could have stayed longer.
Thanks Steve, your hospitality was fabulous & you went out of your way to help out. The Manor is very grand and our room beautiful. The only thing that stops this from being 5 star are small but important things like attention to cleanliness. ( no toiletries, no extra toilet rolls, bathroom floor?? Not washed, no bath mats,. Not much is needed, as this is a spectacular manor and great ambience. We enjoyed our stay
