Overall an OK stay for a few nights. We chose it because it allows dogs. Rooms A and B had decent beds, and it was reasonably quiet for sleeping. There are several improvements needed to earn an Excellent rating: The host did not pro-actively provide me with the entry code prior to check-in time. While driving, I had to message the host to get the code, which added stress to the travel. Odor - upon entry we immediately noticed an odor in the rooms. Not sure of the source, but the shag carpet is very old and stretched out, with 'speed bumps' that can trip someone. Hire a carpet layer to re-stretch the carpet so it's tight and flat. The cleaning needs to be improved. We found a previous guest's pair of socks under the king bed, and room B had some cobwebs in the corner. The soap and shampoo were not new & packaged, they were used items left in the bathroom from previous guests. There was no blow dryer in either room; I had to message the host to get one. It should come standard. No coffee or coffee machine in either room; should come standard. The A room king bed had no lamp on the right side. The large mirror in A room is on the floor; would work much better if hung on the wall. The house front door is not secured with a lock/code; it should be. Check-in time of 5 p.m. is late; 3 or 4 p.m. would be better.
