About this property

Entire place

You'll have the entire home to yourself and will only share it with other guests in your party.

Beautiful Pet Friendly Home on the Cumberland River! Fish, Hike, Relax!

Paradise on the Cumberland River! Fish, Hike, Birdwatch, RELAX! 1,300 sq ft of awesome home perched above the trout filled Cumberland River. Watch the Otters, soring Eagles and listen to the owls, tree frogs and coyotes at night. We are about 5 miles down river from Burkesville and 38 miles downstream from Cumberland Lake. Twenty minutes from Sulphur Springs-Dale Hollow, forty minutes from Wolf Creek Dam and Hatchery Creek. The house is Victorian on the outside and cabin on the inside. The upstairs has a loft with a futon, upstairs bedroom has a queen bed and a pullout couch, shower and laundry. Downstairs Bedroom is a double bed, pullout couch and Full bath. The living room has a pullout couch and two oversized chairs surrounding the fireplace. My wife decorated this and I will tell you, you will love this place. There is a front porch with a swing, back deck has been replaced with a stunning concrete patio overlooking the river. There is also a small herb and vegetable garden to use.

Relax by the fire, pitch horseshoes or nap in the Hammock down by the river. Cards, cribbage, corn hole, crokinole and a dartboard if you like games. AC, Heat, Galley Kitchen, indoor fireplace, washer/dryer, sheets, pillows and towels. There is also wifi, Internet TV ROKU and plenty of DVD movies.

You can use the boat ramp that adjoins the property it is a community ramp that we maintain. You won't see the boat activity down here that you see in the first 15 miles down from Wolf Creek Dam, six boats a day is a lot. This a great base camp for large trout, striper and walleye. We love to fish and occasionally we keep one for the pan. The river is coming back from the construction project and the fishing is getting better and better.

We are pet lovers. If you want to bring your animals its ok with us. There is cat box in the upstairs bathroom closet. Food and water bowls inside and outside. Just bring food. If the dogs are going to be left behind and may ruin something please crate them.

There is no smoking or vaping in the house. If you need to smoke do it outside and please don't leave butts in the grass or fire pit. If you have questions call me.

Gregg was very responsive to messages and his directions to the house were spot on. When we arrived he came by, with his two friendly dogs, to greet us and make sure we had any special instructions for our stay. The house was great. Bathrooms looked recently updated, linens were comfortable, and the whole house was clean and inviting. The kitchen had all the items needed. We cooked all of our meals outside on one of the many outdoor cooking surfaces (propane grill, pizza oven, barrel cooker, and 3 fire pits). The house has a wondeful view of the river. They have kept a lot of the native plants so hummingbirds and butterflies are all over the place. We do not fish, but there was very easy access to launch a boat on the river. We, along with our dog, really enjoyed our stay and will keep this place in mind for future stays.

Very relaxing stay. Clear star filled nights, tons of beautiful sounds from wildlife, and lots of space for the pets.. or your little ones... to run out that energy. Not hard to get back into town if you needed some bait or quick groceries. This place is extremely accommodating to pets. The owners make this place a great choice! They are very thoughtful and social, but they will give you your privacy. They even offered to share their catch for supper, and brought over farm fresh eggs when we arrived! It made us feel like more than just guests passing through. We highly recommend this place as a quiet respite.

Beautiful property, love the river and the outside sitting area. The very nice owner brought us over a dozen fresh eggs as soon as we arrived. The house just needs a good deep cleaning. There were several partially used bars of soap stacked up at the sinks and in the tub and shower. The shower still had a dirty washcloth hanging in it, the tub was covered in body hairs, I pulled up the mat to find the bottom was completely covered in black mold/mildew. After sending a text to the owner his wife came over and wiped down the tub, took the old mat and later brought a new one back. The top of the fridge is covered in animal hair, as were the stairs and living room furniture (we have dogs of our own, so it’s not that we don’t like animals). The house is full of the owners personal stuff kind of like they just went across the road to stay while we were there. There are no curtains or blinds anywhere in the house, so it made us uncomfortable to turn on interior lights at night. Then as soon as the sun comes up you’re awakened by the sunlight, which wouldn’t be so bad if you were wanting to be up at the crack of dawn. We had booked the house for five nights, but left after three. We just didn’t feel clean in the house and weren’t sleeping well with no window covers.I really think the owner is a nice person, and the property is great, whoever cleans just does a terrible job preparing it for renters.

In the words of our 16 and 19 year old sons, this was the best vacation ever! Starting with reading the laidback directions to get to the property, we knew it was going to be a great time. The home is beautiful and the setting majestic, especially when the fog rolls along the river. For your time at the property, my son said the trick to catching trout is to completely ignore your line. Keep an eye out for the unexpected as we had an armadillo wander up by the deck and were visited by the tiniest little frog. We spent the evenings playing euchre and trying different pizzas. The pizza oven was a huge hit! Get the fire going nice and hot, push the coals back and to the sides, and place the pizza in the center with the fire going around it. Keep the cover off while cooking and rotate frequently. The pizza is done within a few minutes! We used a self-rising flour for dough and rolled it thin. This was such a cool perk not available anywhere else we have stayed. There is plenty to keep you busy right at the property, but our 13 year old daughter also wanted to explore. A short drive allowed us to discover “76 Waterfall” which led us to renting a boat to explore Lake Cumberland. If you do this—go with State Park out of Jamestown for true, comfortable pontoons and great service from Kenzie! Dale Hollow Lake is also close with great restaurants and trails, with a beautiful overlook. I can’t recommend this property enough and have had family and friends ask for the details!
Our dog loved it here, too!

Great spot to kickback and relax!

My spouse and I along with our neice, enjoyed our stay on the river. We were in town to attend a family reunion and it was a welcome, peaceful retreat at the end of all the daily family events. The only downside we encountered was my husband being able to fit in the bed. He was a little longer than the bed, but we were able to make it work. The hosts were very friendly and the house was stocked with just about whatever you needed to pull off any meal without having to drive to a nearby store. We even got fresh eggs from the hosts' chickens that were absolutely delicious. Depending on whether or not we have more in our group next year, this spot will be at the top of our list!!

Great Country House for Dale Hollow Fishing

Our group of three came in for a week of fishing at Dale Hollow. The location was close enough to the lake for easy access to a number of ramps. There was plenty of parking for the 3 trucks (one with a boat trailer). The house was clean and kitchen was well stocked for cooking and meals. The beds were comfortable, and the place was ideal for our needs.
