I visit Indonesia on a regular basis now because I have a fiancé and plan to retire there soon. The routine is to meet my gal in Jakarta, spend a few days then travel around before returning to Jakarta for a few more before I depart. This is the first time I rebooked the same place because we did like it there. I realized that I had over booked by 1 day and asked for a refund on 1 day but they declined. I would have understood if it was during peak season, but it wasn’t and they were not really inconvenienced.
I would have made the refund as a gesture of good will, knowing the value of good customer service. I am not saying that I won’t return but if there is a choice to be made, I will remember. It’s a good hotel but I think they could rethink policy considering customer loyalty.
