The company was easy to work with. The house itself has a wasp infestation inside the house but, other than that issue, it was a great weekend!

Bugs, Hazards and Cleanliness Issues

Starting with the good parts of this property. We really enjoyed our time on the dock fishing. There was space for my husband to tie up his boat and store his kayak and our little one enjoyed the swing set. The issues with this property were numerous and need to be addressed before it is utilized again. I was to preface this with the fact that I grew up on the coast and have stayed at many houses on the water. Bugs are just part of living on the water, especially in the warmer months. The bugs in this house (dead and alive) were excessive and made our stay very uncomfortable. Although most were dead, they were not removed from the house. There were nests of gnats caught in spider webs all over the house, many dirt/mud dobber nests (mainly outside). I opened a bottom cabinet in the kitchen to get a bowl and found dead bugs. The property owners also know that the bugs are an issue because there were blue lights with sticky paper plugged in, sticky paper traps in the corners and a fly trap hanging by one of the doors. The numerous glass doors and windows looked like they had never been cleaned. I am pretty sure that the oven has never been cleaned. The carport had building material with nails sticking out of it on the ground and the bunk bed mattress was higher than the guard rail so a child could roll right off. There are very large gaps in the upper floor patio railing where a child could run out onto the roof of part of the house.I would not recommend staying at this proper

Great Views and Potential – But Needs Attention to Cleanliness and Bugs

This property has a lot going for it—gorgeous lake views, plenty of sleeping options, and a layout that works well for a group. Our family of seven had enough room to spread out, and the setting is truly beautiful. The owner was responsive when we reached out about a cleanliness issue, which we really appreciated, but he was reluctant to refund the cleaning fee. He eventually did, though. That said, the house had clearly not been cleaned before our arrival. There were dead bugs throughout—on beds, couches, and kitchen counters—which made the stay uncomfortable. We understand the lake was high and that can increase bug activity, but the presence of bugs inside the house (especially waking up to them in beds) needs to be addressed for future guests. The separate building with additional beds and a bathroom was unfortunately unusable due to wasps and more bugs, which would have been a big problem if our group had been any larger. We also noticed the house had many personal and extra items stored throughout—things like food, empty boxes, and unopened purchases. Our family is very mindful of respecting the homeowner’s belongings, so we left everything untouched, but for clarity and comfort, we would suggest designating a locked closet for those items. This is a fantastic property with so much potential, and we’d love to return next year if we could be assured of improved cleanliness and pest control. With a few changes, this could easily become a five-star rental.

Well-equipped VRBO

Our athletic team and coaches stayed here for the weekend to attend the Junior National Championship at the Sid Richardson Ranch. Getting into the house was easy. John was a great communicator and quick to respond to questions and request. The house was spacious and had plenty of beds for all of us (as well as additional air mattresses). The 3 bathrooms were a huge plus for a group of 10. Laundry facility was on grounds plus laundry detergent. The kitchen was well equipped with many pots and pans, plates, bowels for all of us. They even had spices, oil, rice, and cup-o-noodles. John had left us a tray of snacks which were much appreciated by the team. The bedrooms were well appointed and clean. We had everything that we needed during our stay. The house is located right by a lake. In the morning, you can see the beautiful sunrise over the lake. If we had more time, we would have gone out to explore the water. We would definitely stay here again.
