About this property
The Hall - Historic Grade I-listed Jacobean Mansion
Discover the hidden gem of The Hall, a haven of history, heritage, and fascinating stories.
The Hall is a Grade I-listed Jacobean mansion set within private gated grounds nestled in the picturesque town of Bradford on Avon that sits on the southern edge of the Cotswolds next door to Bath.
Steeped in history and described as one of the finest houses in the West Country, this is a unique opportunity to stay on a 17th-century enchanting estate. The Hall retains many of its original features including the three-gable south front which is notable for having "more glass than wall" and is an example of Jacobean architectural brilliance.
The Hall has been a local landmark for generations, and now, through extensive restoration ensuring that its traditional character has been faithfully preserved, the manor and its surrounding seven acres of private grounds provide a holiday self-catering accommodation experience for those seeking timeless luxury and an idyllic country retreat set within a Grade I-listed Jacobean mansion.
Please note that the Hall does not offer a kitchen or dining area. However, The Hall is centrally located to a selection of local and independent restaurants and places to eat.
Your stay at The Hall includes all three of our guest rooms, each with an ensuite bathroom. Our three newly refurbished self-contained bedrooms tell the story of the distinguished and illustrious figures who once resided in The Hall.

Found on the property's ground floor, the namesake of the Eric room, Charles ‘Eric’ Moulton was a serving second lieutenant and member of the 6th Wiltshire Regiment who was deployed to Northern France following the declaration of war in 1914 between the Allied Powers and the Central Powers.
Inspired by the bravery and heroism of the patriotic young soldier, the Eric room uses colours from the Wiltshire Regiment uniform and has been uplifted with refurbished tables and chairs.
The Eric room, which historically was once the kitchen of this Jacobean mansion features an ensuite green tiled shower room, converted from a pre-existing majestic fireplace that now includes a spacious rainfall shower.
This room includes a welcome basket, tea and coffee-making facilities, and a mini refrigerator stocked for your convenience.
Towels and bathrobes are supplied with fresh linen. This room includes free Wi-Fi and a flat-screen smart television.

Situated on the second floor of the property, the Kingston room features framed illustrations of the namesake of this captivating space, the Duchess of Kingston, notorious for being the first woman to be tried and convicted of bigamy in Great Britain in 1776, and who was a previous resident of The Hall.
A brightly coloured floral heritage wallpaper wraps around the chamber providing guests with a gorgeously cosy feel. Charming is the sitting area with a restored sofa and chair, rescued and lovingly reupholstered. Also featured in the room is a restored carriage trunk from the late 19th century, recently discovered in the servant's quarters of the house.
Take a luxuriating soak in our deep roll-top slipper bath in the exquisitely refurbished adjoining bathroom. This beautiful bathroom also features a walk-in gold rainfall shower finished in a deep blue tiled finish.

Located on the third floor in the heart of the house is the Moulton room - once occupied by Alex Moulton, the renowned automotive inventor who pioneered the Moulton Bicycle and who created the suspension system in the iconic Mini.
Dr Moulton’s huge mahogany 7ft wide four-poster bed welcomes awe-struck visitors - lovingly restored and reupholstered and features a deep hand-tufted luxurious mattress for the perfect night’s sleep.
The expansive interior is furnished with long draped curtains that complement the impressive wardrobe alongside a mahogany framed chaise lounge and hanging portrait of Dr Moulton.
A dedicated entrance to the Moulton room is decorated with portraits, certificates, and diplomas of the late Dr Alex Moulton and is a love letter to Moulton aficionados.

Guests will also get unrestricted access to the magnificent seven acres of landscaped and private grounds and can make full use of outdoor seating and tables. Once described by Country Life as an “excellent example of what intelligent and loving care can accomplish, where casual interest and indifferent attention would have achieved very little.”
Our grounds offer tranquil seclusion and undisturbed privacy where secret hidden corners, towering ancient trees, deep ponds, and local wildlife await discovery. Guests will be able to make use of our private parking space set within the estate grounds.
