Our stay in Bologna was disappointing from the start. Check-in was meant to be via video call, but despite several attempts to contact the host on arrival, no one answered and we had to manage ourselves.
The main issue happened on the third evening. After returning around 9pm, we found the building entrance keypad was not working. After several calls, the host finally answered and admitted he already knew about the issue because other guests had reported it earlier that day. We felt this should have been communicated in advance, as it directly affected access.
We were left outside for around 30 minutes trying to resolve it. Initially, the host suggested we ring random apartments for help. Only after we insisted did he contact other guests to come downstairs and open the door. He also said coming himself would take too long and that it was not his fault as the door had broken. While issues can happen, we expected better support when guests are locked out.
The apartment was average and not well maintained. Walls were flaky, the bathroom had only hand soap, and no basic toiletries. The bedroom lacked bedside tables and an extra duvet, and the one provided was very thin. Pillows were also poor quality, affecting sleep.
Overall, due to poor communication, lack of assistance, and the below-average standard, we would not recommend this accommodation.
