The room was ok, but the experience was horrible. We wasted half a day trying to confirm that we would have a room upon arrival, and finally had to go through Expedia to be able to get in touch with the property. They also told us parking was available at the property for 9 euros per day, but when we arrived (at 11:30p) there were no spaces and it was too late to try and figure out where to park. We left our car close to a wall and far away from the parked cars. We also left a note with our room number in case there was a problem. The hotel proprietor woke us up at the crack of dawn screaming to us in French. We tried to explain that we did not know where to park (since we were not given instructions when we asked about parking) and we moved our car to a public parking lot. She kept screaming at us every time she saw us even though we apologized and paid 9 euros to park there for a few hours. When we were leaving there was a lady waiting outside who also had a reservation and was not able to get in touch with anyone. She was trying to book a room elsewhere. Stay away from this place, the lady there is very nasty and rude.

Serverine warmly welcomed us at check-in and showed us to our room. She served breakfast a little earlier than usual the first day as we had an early tour and gave us great restaurant recommendations that we could walk to. Felt like we were staying with friends

The host was excellent. Very friendly and welcoming. The breakfast was super- a big selection with homemade options. The orange juice was freshly squeezed. The room was nice and clean. The bed was a king size. The room was cool and you could open the balcony doors. The only downside was the late check in time - 5pm. We were only staying 1 night, so it felt like we just slept and left. Parking on site was limited, but there are public options nearby.

We stayed at Le Castel for 2 nights during a trip to see the beaches of Normandy. The town of Bayeux is charming and the Normandy region is beautiful! Le Castel is conveniently located in town, and walkable to all the charming restaurants, shops, and attractions in Bayeux. My complaints fall with the lack of accessibility of staff. Nobody is there until 5pm for check in. I messaged the property to request check in at 4, or at least to see if we could leave our luggage, as we arrived by train from Paris, and nobody replied to my request. Upon the designated 11am checkout, nobody was on premise and the lobby was locked (per usual) so we left our key in our room.

Absolutely spacious, comfortable, and convenient lodging with 3 separate bedrooms with on-suite full baths in the heart of beautiful and quaint Bayeux. What more could you ask for? Accommodations were above and beyond expectations as was the multitude of restaurants, bars, and shops within walking distance, not to mention the gorgeous cathedral and the fascinating tapestry museum. It's also a close drive to the WWII museums and cemetery as well as the must see Mont Saint-Michel. Highly recommended!

Our stay at Castel Guesthouse

The beds were a little too hard, and the pillows were flat. You must walk the stairs with your bags. The hostess was very helpful in helping carrying the bags up 3 flights of stairs. You cannot check in until 5. You can store your bags near the Bayeaux train station at Nannybags.com and pick them up later.
