Such a pretty building and a lovely surprise to be within a few hundred yards of Banbury Cross. Room was good. Staff were friendly. And there was easy parking
Was located in a recently renovated deluxe room in the more modern area of the hotel. Room clean and comfortable. Door handle to bathroom kept falling off though! ( just needed a grub screw tightening) and there was a lack of coat hangers in the wardrobe.
Some public areas shabby, particularly stair and corridor carpets.
Good buffet style breakfast.
Nice central location for town, with large free carpark at rear.
We had a newly renovated room and bathroom. The rest of the property is undergoing renovations as well. The room was great and the grounds are beautiful. Not much in the town to see. It was a great 1 night stop over point
The property is located in Banbury which based on our stay is very loud with people shouting and screaming 'til early hours in the morning. On the second night, the hotel hosted, what I can only decribed as a rave; very peaceful. The room was excessively hot during the night, making it impossible to sleep (once Mc Scooter stopped playing). There was no fan in the room or air conditioning. On the final day the shower and taps only produced boilng hot water which resulted in our young children being unable to shower and teeth brushing took place using a bottle of mineral water. Needless to say, we wont return anytime soon.
The hotel even old was very tired the carpets looked like they could do with a clean or replaced. The main shower only dripped water and when using the hands free it was boiling water and I adequate thankfully I didn’t have to wash my hair. I expected more for the money I paid. Good breakfast and staff
Original building and gardens are lovely but we were housed in a 1970’s built rear wing which is dated, though does appear to be in the course of refurbishment. Our room was dated, scruffy carpets, curtains hanging off rail, and plumbing and electrical issues. Wasn’t cleaned properly. We booked an evening meal prior to arrival based on an apparently good menu in the Berkeley room but ended up in a noisy sports bar with a very basic limited menu of only 4 items more suited to a transport cafe. In fairness the hotel did refund the cost of this in view of the various issues. Very disappointed really, this hotel could be so very nice but is very lacking at the moment.
Given a number of not so favourable reviews, we were quite pleasantly surprised with our stay.
Staff were really friendly and helpful. The room had been refurbished - furnishings not luxury but clean and functional. Breakfast buffet was quite amazing for the price. Lovely garden behind.
We had a suite at front of hotel. pros: very spacious, nice outlook over cross, cons: noisy - particularly with windows open which was necessary as warm and airless otherwise.
Public areas nice and grand, garden very pleasant and well maintained.
Price was very reasonable and we felt very good value for money
Evening staff very terrible asked for a fan and was told if there isn’t one in the room then bad luck.

The uniqueness was the entrance to the customer parking! Not suitable for really big cars.
The ensuite in our room needed refurbishment as did the carpets on the stairs in the modern extension. This apparently is due to be done.
Breakfast was a bargain- must book at reception. All staff very helpful and friendly.
It was good to be able to eat in the bar when I did not want a full evening meal. Very easy parking and convenient location. the room was good if rather bland but at least bedside light and desk lamp and plenty of sockets. However a few instructions would be useful - it took me sometime to find how to switch on the TV which meant feeling around the back and ditto getting hot water for the shower. Basics like and whether there is a lift is very important to an experienced traveller.
The satff were very good and so was the breakfast.
