I received a warm welcome upon arrival but, unfortunately that’s where the positives end. My room, whilst suitably furnished looked as if it hadn’t been cleaned in ages. The bathroom had long auburn hairs that obviously belonged to a previous guest. Dinner was extremely mediocre and it wasn’t until I finished that anyone asked if everything was ok. The deep fried breaded farmed sea bass fillet was overcooked and dreadful. The menu described it as a schnitzel when it bore absolutely no resemblance to the classic dish that’s cooked in clarified butter. Breakfast was good and served by charming staff. Upon departure, I handed my key to a member of staff who was sitting by the bar doing some admin. Absolutely no interest, no pleasantries and no question as to whether I enjoyed my stay. I would definitely not return.

Just the night

We booked in and the woman who checked us in and bar staff were so friendly and welcoming. Room was good though a shower over a bath is difficult for my husband so will investigate that further on out next stay. All good, lunch was lovely and found Wendover to be a lovely town. We booked a table for our evening meal and was a wee bit disappointed. The food could have been warmer. I had burger and hubby had rolled belly pork. The pork was a bit tuff... and it was a cheap meal. However, breakfast was best weve had in a very long time. Blackpudding was delicious, spicey with no big white fatty bits. Eggs perfectly good...yummy. I would recommend the hotel and we will definately be back..with friends in Nov i am hoping!!!

Stay was fine, a few small improvements would make a big difference. Evening meal like warm on two nights that meant I didn’t bother eating in the 3rd night. Coffee machine in the room didn’t work properly and mould on drinking water bottle wasn’t over encouraging. Nice location, lovely village, different food menu, attention to detail needed
