The place seems very nice, but we checked in on a Sunday afternoon, and we were told that the restaurant would be closing at 2:00pm, so we would have to make other arrangements for dinner, or eat before 2:00PM.
We ordered a cheese plate for our room and ate that later that day.
After 2:00PM the place actually closed, the wifi was shut down and we were pretty much stranded there.
Very nice hotel. Room was large with a big shower. Some staff speak very little English but can get by. Would stay again as a half way stop over but not a holiday destination.
Very nice French country hotel on the edge of Colombey les Deux Églises. The room was large with exposed stone walls and a very comfortable bed. The room and hotel were very clean and respectful,of the current COVID regulations. There is a restaurant and a conservatory area for eating. If the weather is good you can eat outside. We had a meal which was good value for money with a bottle of wine at a reasonable price. The staff were friendly and the service was efficient. The hotel is 30 km from the A5 motorway and would make a convenient place to stop on a drive to the South of France.
This is essentially a gastro pub with accommodation.
The rooms are arranged around the main pub/restaurant building and are of a good size and very comfortable.
A few points:
- Rooms were very clean and there is daily housekeeping.
- there is no aircon or fans available in any of the rooms. This makes for an uncomfortable night's sleep (temp was 35deg when we were there). In most rooms you can open the french doors and close the shutters to let the air in
- Due to router/security settings on the available public WiFi I could not connect to the network with any of my UK devices. The manager was helpful in trying to solve the issue but WiFi wouldn't connect. 4G signal is poor.
- no English channels on the in-room TV. Not unusual in France, but there were 6 UK guests staying when we were there, so having 1 English speaking channel would be a nice touch.
- food at dinner is very good. Breakfast is OK, but limited to a continental choice (though this is good value).
- staff were all very friendly and helpful, especially the manager
We stayed at this hotel last year and thought it was excellent. That’s why we returned with our friends this year. The restaurant serves great French cuisine and well worth trying.
The property was very quaint & had a wonderful French vibe. The food was excellent & the young waiters were fabulous Would definitely recommend a stay here
Just off the road into Colombey so easy to find and convenient with parking right in front of the hotel, yet no perceptible traffic noise. The rooms are a good size, comfortable and clean. Staff were helpful and food good and good value.
The hotel is next to a main road with moderate traffic. It was nevertheless authentic French and very enjoyable. Lack of air conditioning in the room was a minus point in hot weather. The pool was not available. The hotel is in a pleasant village which it was nice to stroll around in the evening.
It was a very good stay , excellent value for money . Charming restaurant with a very nice outside terrace for the warm weather. The swimming pool was perfect and would be very suitable for children. Overall an excellent place to stopover .
We have stayed here many times before; on this visit we found that there were new owners.
The welcome was warm and professional , the room as comfortable as always and the restaurant menus and wine list were excellent; overall great value.
Only improvement would be access to english TV , in particular BBC/Sky News please
When we arrived at the hotel we were told they had no record of our booking, despite showing them our confirmation. We were told the hotel was full as there was a local wedding. The receptionist was pleasant but spoke little English and our French was not good enough for a detailed conversation. She told us to try the hotel a few hundred yards up the road as the tariff was the same and she knew they had rooms. That hotel was also full. I think we were bumped to accommodate the wedding party and we were left to fend for ourselves.
We picked this hotel for a stop over on our way to southern France and it far exceeded our expectations. The room was great, staff helpful and friendly and the food exceptional.
Stopped on the way back to the UK. We were surprised by how nice it is and how good the restaurant is. Would definitely recommend. Only regret is that we had to leave in the morning.
I had a large sausage (boudin) for dinner . It was dreadful and was clearly an acquired taste.I would not recommend it.My wife ,on the other hand ,had an excellent meal.
It was a bit of luxury on our motor cycle trip from Ypres to Cannes, we decided to have a slightly-better-than-usual overnighter and I am so glad we did. The flies were a bit annoying but, hey ho, it is in the middle of the countryside so only to be expected. I would love to visit again for a longer break next year.
We were very impressed by this very attractive and comfortable hotel. Friendly service, clean rooms and good value restaurant. Would thoroughly recommend.
We spent two nights on our way back to UK. Our room #5 was well away from the road, so was quiet. Good area if you are interested in Charles de Gaulle. Rolling hills of oil-seed and wheat, plus grape vines on the Champagne wine trail. For cycling, best to drive to the Champagne-Burgundy canal and use the cycle path beside it (Chaumont North or South). Pity there were no tea/coffee making facilities in-room, otherwise perfect.
