Great location, with most places within easy walking distance from the hotel. Wonderful river walk five minutes from the hotel, along with plenty of shop's and dining options near-by. Complimentary breakfast, with a good menu, friendly staff and comfortable accommodation.
Beautiful building inside and out.
Room was in separate building across the road which was absolutely fine for us, but no air conditioning and it was a hot night.
Water pressure in the shower was poor but that was our only issue. We loved our stay.
Had a lovely overnight stay in this beautiful old hotel. Staff so friendly and helpful especially David with a free upgrade to a gorgeous four poster room. So clean throughout thank you would definitely stay again.
Room was very very small for 2 people, hottest room in the building, fans inadequate. Staff were good, it was a hot day and despite this we feel our comments were not taken seriously.
Location great in the middle of Bakewell, parking on site. Friendly helpful staff. Evening meal in a lovely decorated restaurant was excellent and non too expensive Good selection for breakfast. All in all a very enjoyable overnight stay. Wished I’d booked for a longer stay
The perfect hotel for Bakewell, right in the middle of the town. The restaurant is an amazing venue, a beautiful place to eat in (and the food was pretty good also).
Amazing hotel, centrally located for walking around Bakewell. Very friendly and helpful staff, especially the lady on reception and the staff in the restaurant. Recommend a stay.
Really enjoyed it at the Rutland , booked a deluxe four poster which was so lovely ,worth every penny ! Breakfast Cooked to order , and served to you , none of the awful buffet type that seems to be the norm now . Delightful coffee shop also . Definitely the place to stay if visiting Bakewell , we will be back !
Hotel and staff were good, where we stayed though was not. We booked through you assuming we were staying at the hotel, wrong, they put us across the main busy junction, through the car park separate from the hotel, in a converted shed. The old sash window in the bedroom couldn’t shut properly so the noice from the main rd just a few feet away was dreadful. We had virtually no sleep at all. We go away monthly to different hotels and everyone has been great, we’ll not through you anymore. The staff were informed but nothing came from it. We were shattered driving home. Be careful if you book there and make sure you stay in the hotel, not across the rd.
The staff were very helpful and attentive which made it a pleasant stay. We had a lovely meal in the restaurant and the breakfast was good so no issues with the food. It was my birthday so i had my main and dessert for free too as they have a birthday offer.
The hotel itself has character and charm, we upgraded to a superior double on the top floor, there are no lifts but we were made aware of that when booking. The room itself was clean and had some nice touches, including a welcome note from housekeeping. The room was at the back of the hotel so we could hear the kitchens and it had no view, but thats just the layout of the building. The only issue was the heat: the bathroom towel rail was very hot and made it too hot to leave the door shut. It would have burned you if you put your hand on it so is a safety issue. We were not able to rurn it off either. The radiators on the landings were also on full blast even though we had good sunny weather. Otherwise it was a good hotel and we would return.
The hotel was very good and we’d recommend it. The location was second to none, giving you the option of exploring Bakewell and the Monsal Trail but also having a convenient access to both Chatsworth, Hadden Hall
