The lobby was decorated well with some nice alaskan decor, the room i stayed in had a nice and comfortable king sized bed, but everything else seemed dated, very bland room, the staff i had encounters with were friendly, though during check in one lady was training a new desk person and it was a very awkward check in, overall id go back for another stay for short periods of time

This property was fine. Nothing special. It was hard to pin down but it had a bit of dirty feel to it - it could use a sprucing up. Paint, cleaning, etc. It was a good location as we were leaving early the next morning by train and it was very close to the train station. It was also a short walk to downtown Anchorage.

The only thing i have good to say about this hotel, was the young lady that checked us in. It does not meet the standard of a Wyndham Hotel. There are indications it used to be a Comfort Inn. It is very old and run down, and inconveniently located in a rough part of town. It was overly priced, $500 for 2 nights. Breakfast was powdered eggs and meat. Hardly any seating because some dining chairs were taken to individual rooms we were told. It appears they are refurbishing as there was new carpet and beds in our room. I would never stay here again and would suggest you stay away as well.

The hotel is great for its location near the train station. It was fortunately within walking distance of the train station (approximately one third mile across three or four sets of tracks). This is the only good thing I can share about our journey. I contacted the hotel twice to confirm that they had a shuttle to the train station at 8:30 AM, and could handle my folding wheelchair. This was when I first booked the hotel, and around a week out from our arrival. When we arrived around 11 PM, I reconfirmed the shuttle to the train station for the following morning at 8:30 AM. When we got to our room we discovered that the thermostat had been broken off the wall, with wires hanging out. The room was cold. We bundled up for the night. At 8:20 AM that next morning, when we went to the desk in the lobby, we were told that we needed to take the shuttle that had just arrived. We went to the shuttle and the driver said he was going to the airport, not the train station. I had to ride my wheelchair to the station, and my wife and daughter had to walk three large pieces of luggage the station. This through weather that had been light rain, but fortunately eased up for our journey. So, the location is good, but the amenities leave a lot to be desired.

What happened?

We reserved a room with two queen beds but it wasn’t available when we checked in so we were given a king with a roll away! The front desk clerk did the best she could in a tough situation but if a room is reserved, it should be available or the reservation rejected.

We had a nice large room the only draw back was the A/C was right by our heads while in bed so it was we couldn't use it,and I wish we would have requested a room on the creek side of the building because of the train noise all night.

I was surprised of the condition of the hotel based on the cost per night. It wasn’t cheap and I’ve stayed in nicer motels. The best part was the staff! I feel like they did the very best they could with what they have. This hotel is really close to the train station, however if you come in on the late train from Seward in pouring rain, they have a shuttle and the driver was amazing and positive. The shuttle is a 15 passenger van with plenty of space for a bazillion bags! There is an indoor pool but it isn’t heated if that matters to you. There is a continental breakfast but again, the staff did the best they could with what they have. You won’t starve but I’d get breakfast at the airport or somewhere downtown. They also did a great job setting up shuttles for everyone to the airport too. Safety wise, didn’t feel like the area wasn’t safe but you could see evidence that at some point some of the security latches were forcefully removed from the doors. Good for a short stay. It just could use a refresh to match the positive energy of the staff.

The staff was amazing - very kind, very accommodating. The room was weird. I’m now sure how else to describe it. The walls were weird, the floor plan was weird, very poor repairs to water damage in and around the room. But, it served its purpose for my husband and me, and we’re onto the next.

The TV didn't work properly. Room was dingy and looked very worn. I was concerned and glad that I only stayed one night. I thought that I had checked in to the wrong hotel because what I saw did not compare with the photos. The front desk clerk seemed to have a bit of an attitude.

The hotel is looking very tired and needs some TLC. We can see that some things have been updated but the front counter and chairs for staff are worn thin and the front desk needs to be more inviting. Staff are doing their best but at times it can be overwhelming when checking in. Breakfast was good but very short and limited places to sit when everyone is coming to have breakfast.
