Holidays in Grenfell

Just remember, 'we're here for a good time, not a long time!' So shake a leg and book that holiday to Grenfell. It's the ideal entry to the amazing rural landscapes and rivers of Central New South Wales.

The nation's capital city, Canberra, is located about 170 kilometres to the southeast of Grenfell.

Head out of Grenfell and get ready to experience some unique natural attractions. Just 16 kilometres away, Conimbla National Park is a pleasant place to fill your lungs with fresh air. We also recommend Young Visitor Information Centre, 45 kilometres away from Grenfell.

Discover the culture of this region at the Grenfell Museum

Want to expand your horizons? Greenethorpe is 20 kilometres to the southeast of Grenfell and Monteagle is 35 kilometres to the southeast. Get in the car and find out what's out there!

Transform your travels through the region into an unforgettable adventure with a day of hiking or horse riding. They're both well-liked activities here.

Picnicking and bird watching are two of the best ways to wind down while breathing in some fresh air.

You won't need to take your guidebook if you choose to go on some culinary tours and winery tours. Your gracious tour guide will be able to give you the best local knowledge there is!

Not only is sky diving a marvellous way to enjoy panoramic views of the landscapes below, it also promises action, excitement and the opportunity to soar like a bird!

Step into the region's art museums, history museums, art galleries and craft workshops and make the most of all that they have to offer.

Want a bit of vitamin D? Consider planning an outing to one of the surrounding area's open-air museums, open-air exhibits and farms.

'There is no love sincerer than the love of food,' George Bernard Shaw once said, but add travel to the mix and it's a match made in heaven. You're invited to merge your two greatest loves by eating and drinking your way through Central New South Wales.

A typical ingredient in the cuisine here is beef. One more is oysters. They're worth getting a taste for if they're not already a part of your food repertoire.

When the locals talk to you about their favourite foods, you could hear salt and pepper squid or meat pie mentioned a few times. These signature recipes form part of the area's identity and ought to be on any foodie's list.

'Stressed' spelled backwards is 'desserts', and that's not just a coincidence. There's no more delicious way to say goodbye to your worries than with peach melba, a treat that's often found on dining tables here.

Feeling a bit parched? Shout yourself to a round of Hahn, a beer that needs to be on your bucket (or pint) list.

Straight up or mixed — it doesn't matter! Several shots of Bundaberg Spiced Rum ought to jumpstart the night out! It's a local favourite here, and it's definitely worth a try.

There's a vineyard full of reasons to sample Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon or Orange region Merlot. These delicious drops draw vino savants from far and wide.

From the middle of Grenfell, it's 180 kilometres southeast to Canberra International Airport (CBR). This is the closest airport. Make sure you give yourself a bit of extra time to get there so you don't miss your flight back home.

"Entry to room is open to the elements, and has a very small concrete step to gain access. The roadways are very uneven, and hold water , especially near room entries. Generally, once past the reception, the pile up of garden rubbish is certainly needing removal, or at least tidying up."
