If you’re a horse lover, saddle up and trot to Scone because you’ll go riding on the horses, yeah yeah! Scone is known as "the horse capital of Australia", and it’s a fabulous spot to find studs (the horses, that is). When you’re done with horses (NEVER!), get into some of the
Hunter Valley’s other superb attractions like national parks and wineries. Book your Scone hotel with us and live every lastminute.
Things to do
Ride a horse – of course, of course! Scone’s local horse-riding schools will have you trotting around like McLeod’s Daughters in a safe environment in the great outdoors. And if you’re keen for the great outdoors, Barrington Tops National Park and Goulburn River National Park are both within day trip driving distance and are awesome for bushwalkers. Goulburn River has about 90 km of riverside tracks to bliss out on, while Barrington Tops has rainforests, heaps of bird life, picnic areas and waterfalls.
If you wanna see some history AND a new movie at the same time, visit the Scone Civic Theatre, an art deco building that hasn’t changed much since it opened in 1938! Designed by renowned cinema architects Crick and Furse, it’s a place where you can catch new release movies in an old-fashioned art deco setting. Blast from the past indeed.
So hungry you could eat a horse? DON"T! Make your way to Scone’s colonial town centre instead and bliss out at a delish cafe, restaurant or patisserie. You can probably even get scones in Scone. High five to that! There are heaps of fresh food shops around if you wanna prepare your own yummy meals from scratch, and clothing shops around to help you rock the rural chic. Love those green hills on the horizon – wild and untamed, the perfect setting for a rugged romance.
And when you’ve done your dash in Scone, the Hunter Valley has plenty of moments to capture! You can have a wine at an estate among lush natural surrounds, take a wine tour to some amazing hot spots, and gorge yourself on divine local produce at top-notch restaurants.
