Thailand\u2019s Full Moon parties are controversial (to say the least!), but this list wouldn\u2019t be complete if we didn\u2019t mention them. They started in 1988 as small backpacker parties of only 20 \u2013 30 people, but now attract 5,000 \u2013 30,000 people a month. From dusk till dawn, they\u2019re all about booze, dance, and stuff you don\u2019t want your mum to know about. They\u2019re also one of the few events where full body paint is considered a legitimate outfit \ud83d\ude33<\/p>\n

If you like your parties with a soundtrack, head for the world\u2019s biggest music festival. With 11 stages packed over 11 days, avoid the family-friendly stuff and fill your days with all the music<\/em>.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s part Dracula\u2019s living room, part Cinderella\u2019s bedroom, and all hotspot. This where Munich\u2019s glitterati go wild.<\/p>\n

Get into the Pagan spirit and rock it witch-style at Beltane, halfway between the Spring Equinox and the Summer Solstice. If you think partying in Scotland sounds a bit chilly, don\u2019t worry. This is a fire<\/em> festival and it\u2019s warm enough that anything goes (including nudity and creepy masks). When an event\u2019s website<\/a> tells you to \u201cfollow the sound of the drumming\u201d to find the action, you know it\u2019s going to be amazing. Just try to keep all your bits out of the flames\u00a0\ud83d\udd25<\/p>\n

This is one party where you don\u2019t want to rock up in your boring old t-shirt and shorts. Burning Man is renowned for epic costumes that combine erotica with art.
