\nThis is it people: the world\u2019s largest food festival. This five-day feast attracts more than 2 million hungry visitors every year, and you can expect to find just about every cuisine under the sun to satisfy your appetite. Get planning!<\/p>\n\n

2. Bacon Fest, Sacramento, California, USA<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

When: January
\nYou can\u2019t go there without trying: Bacon
\nYou read correctly – this is a festival allllll about bacon. Bacon Fest is a week-long celebration at the end of January that features savoury treats from more than 100 local restaurants and organically fed hogs (factory-farmed animals aren\u2019t allowed). There\u2019s bacon gelato, bacon salad, bacon ramen, bacon tater tots\u2026 you get the gist.<\/p>\n\n

3. PoutineFest, Ottawa, Canada<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

When: May
\nYou can\u2019t go there without trying: Butter chicken poutine
\nIf you don\u2019t know what poutine is, let me take you on the journey. Picture fries, then add gravy (a lot) and cheese curd. What you have is poutine and it\u2019s a concoction that\u2019s close to heaven. If you\u2019re a fan of the bacon festival above, Poutine Fest also does deep-fried bacon-wrapped poutine *heart palpitates*. Cholesterol never tasted so good.<\/p>\n\n

4. Pizzafest, Naples, Italy<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

When: June
\nYou can\u2019t go there without trying: Traditional margherita
\nWe don\u2019t think you need convincing on this one. For one week, the town of Lungomare Caracciolo turns into a pizza village, and 500,000 people come to eat more than 100,000 pizzas (in total \u2013 not each). Make sure you watch the World Pizza-Making Championships to see who gets crowned World\u2019s Best Pizzaiolo. When in Naples\u2026 \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n

5. \u00a0Salon du Chocolat, Paris, France<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

\nOne of the best chocolate festivals around, the Salon du Chocolat runs over five days at the end of Oct oberand takes up 20,000 square metres of exhibition space (which equals a LOT of chocolate ???). Activities include chocolate tastings, chocolate workshops, children\u2019s (chocolate) events, and eating LOTS and LOTS of chocolate.<\/p>\n

6. World Gourmet Summit<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

When: September
\nYou can\u2019t go there without trying: Roasted suckling pig from Boca Singapore
\nA globally recognised gastronomic event, you\u2019ll be rubbing shoulders with fine-dining enthusiasts from around the world (so make sure you remember your table manners \ud83d\ude09 ). Featuring a mix of local talent and international Michelin-starred chefs, you\u2019ll be able to sample a wide variety of cuisines.
