In a city with as many accommodation options as Sydney<\/a>, it\u2019s the hotels that go above and beyond to provide an offering that\u2019s a little different to the crowd that stand out. And one of those gems is the newly refurbished\u00a0Larmont by Lancemore<\/a>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n

Nestled just behind the iconic Coca-Cola sign in the happening Potts Point precinct, the hotel is full of surprises including Harbour Bridge and Opera House views from our Signature Room, 1102, located on the top floor – something I was not expecting in a four-star property!<\/p>\n

Views aside, the newly refurbished rooms – courtesy of the award-winning Hassel Studio team – punch above their star-rating. While compact, the design is smart including a semi-open plan style bathroom \u2013 the shower and toilet areas are tucked behind their own doors with a basin area incorporated into a freestanding vanity that also houses the well-stocked mini-bar.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s a lot to love about the space including a king bed with super fluffy pillows, a day bed perfect for Harbour watching, rain shower, Appelles toiletries, a well-stocked mini-bar, a large SmartTV with Apple TV and a Bose sound system.<\/p>\n\n

We all love a value-add or two and fitness fans are well looked after with free access to Anytime Fitness, located right next door, and a complimentary visit to the onsite Body Mind Life yoga studio. And free wifi is always appreciated.<\/p>\n\n

The Larmont is a rare breed in other ways too with its pet-friendly status. Bring your four-legged friend along for the holiday in one of four courtyard rooms. Your fluffy side-kick is catered for with a welcome treat, a bed and food and water bowls all provided.<\/p>\n

Speaking of food, human folk are well looked after too with the hotel\u2019s new restaurant, The Hyde. Executive Chef Christian Colognesi, former head chef at Sydney favourite Bambini Trust, is at the helm and he and his team provide breakfast, lunch and dinner daily with a Modern European influence. As an opening special (it opened its doors this month), hotel guests dining for lunch or dinner enjoy a complimentary glass of wine, beer or house spirit – you’ve got to love that.<\/p>\n

Buffet brekkies can be a bit same-same so the interesting a la carte breakfast menu gets my tick of approval. My hot tip, the \u2018Eggs and Greens\u2019: sunny side up fried eggs with crushed peas, saut\u00e9ed baby spinach, crispy kale and pea \u2018dust\u2019 on sourdough. With bacon added for good measure.<\/p>\n\n

Of course, as a food lover, one of the biggest drawcards of this hotel is its location. You\u2019re absolutely spoilt for choice with the foodie hotspots of Darlinghurst and Potts Point a short walk away.<\/p>\n

After watching the stunning sunset from our room, we made like locals and strolled through Kings Cross and down Macleay Street towards the iconic Fratelli Paradiso for an Italian hit, followed by a nightcap at the always great Monopole.<\/p>\n\n

And it\u2019s not just food and wine options you\u2019re in close proximity to: the stunning Royal Botanic Gardens, Andrew Boy Charlton Pool, the Australian Museum, the Art Gallery of NSW and even the CBD are all walkable. Kings Cross train station is only a few minutes walk away for anywhere else further afield.<\/p>\n\n

The verdict? Put this gem on your Sydney hotel shortlist. It doesn\u2019t matter whether you\u2019re in town for business or leisure, or whether you\u2019re an out-of-towner or a local like me on a staycation, Larmont by Lancemore<\/a> is the little gem that will please everyone.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
