Almost out of nowhere, it\u2019s undergone a serious foodie revolution and even the pickiest food and wine fans will find plenty to love in Canberra<\/a>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

1. Kick off with an an indulgent lunch<\/strong><\/h3>\n

A few hours driving down the Hume Highway from Sydney<\/a> is hunger-inducing stuff and what better way to nourish up and kick off your Canberra<\/a> stay that with a long lunch. As soon as you set foot on the gorgeous grounds of Pialligo Estate and step through the door of its Farmhouse Restaurant, you\u2019ll know your tastebuds are in very good hands. With a paddock-to-plate philosophy, stunning garden views and warm rustic design, this is \u2018country\u2019 dining at its best. While the Chef\u2019s Tasting Menu is tempting, needing to save some room for dinner adventures, we opt for a la carte and aren\u2019t disappointed.<\/p>\n

Starters of Kangaroo Island Scallops, Butternut Squash, Black Trumpet, Blood Orange & Ginger and Lady Elliot Island Bug Tail, White Polenta, Smoked Eel, Sweetcorn & Black Truffle set the scene perfectly, while the Moorlands Biodynamic Lamb, Turnips, Heritage Cauliflower & Honey Mead and Muscovy Duck from the Macedon Ranges, Globe Artichoke, Spring Onion & Natural Juices for mains have my husband and I confirming why we could never be vegetarians.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s the chocolate tart and petit fours that win my heart though.<\/p>\n
