When it comes to short getaways from Sydney, it’s hard to beat the beauty of the South Coast.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

So when a friend’s wedding was being held in the beautiful seaside town of Kiama<\/a>, I was onto booking accommodation quick smart. And I couldn’t go past the Sebel Kiama<\/a>.<\/p>\n\"\"\n

Located right on the harbour, the sight of the glistening water and the area’s iconic pine trees (along with palm trees in this photo) will have you feeling instantly relaxed and much further away the two drive from the city.<\/p>\n\"\"\n

With a variety of room options, there’s something for every need and budget. We’re calling a one bedroom apartment home for the weekend and can’t fault the spacious layout, cloud like bed (made even better with block out blinds), kitchen facilities and private balcony, perfect for soaking up some rays.<\/p>\n

If you want to keep things easy, enjoy a beverage and casual meal at the onsite Blue Diamond Bar and Bistro (I recommend the blue corn tortillas with chipotle chicken, beans, corn, jalapeno and avocado salsa). And for breakfast, you’ll spoilt with not only a great selection of options – think fruits, Bircher muesli, smoked salmon and bagels, waffles and pastries – but also killer water views.<\/p>\n\"\"\n

If you’re staying longer than a night and want to mix it up, there\u2019s a great caf\u00e9 next door call Penny Whistler. It offers a menu that wouldn’t look out of place in the most hipster of Sydney<\/a> suburbs but with coastal charm and service. Our brekky bowl special with frittata, peas, poached egg, baba ghanoush, quinoa and roast pumpkin and fig and walnut breakfast smoothie hit the spot perfectly. And bonus points for having an all-day breakfast and lunch menu.<\/p>\n\"\"\n

A trip to Kiama<\/a> wouldn’t be complete without a visit to the lighthouse and blowhole.<\/p>\n\"\"\n

And it would be rude not to make the most of the coastal path and head out for a beachside run.<\/p>\n\"\"\n

If you’re up for exploring a little further, the cute towns of Gerringong and Berry aren’t far away, the latter being home to the iconic Berry Donut Van.<\/p>\n

Or you might get lucky like I did and have a very smart bride and groom turn 150 cinnamon donuts into a stunning wedding cake.<\/p>\n\"\"\n

I\u2019d call that wedding weekend getaway success.<\/p>\n
