Have I been time warped back to colonial British-India times or did I have one whisky sour cocktail too many?<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

I’m at the\u00a0The Danna<\/a>, a gorgeous beachside resort in Langkawi that has won more awards than I have servings of char keow teow.<\/p>\n

Like a Mills & Boon romance, the\u00a0guys at The Danna<\/a> know exactly how to woo you…slowly! \ud83d\ude09 It might be the delicious afternoon tea of tiered delights, my private cooking class in the garden where I proudly recreate a feast or maybe it\u2019s the relaxing massage in the spa looking over the marina?\u00a0Actually the thing that\u2019s most special about The Danna<\/a> is the staff. Holidaying on your own can sometimes be a bit lonely, especially if the place is all lovey dovey couples and happy (or screaming) families, but The Danna<\/a> staff are encouraged to stop and chat with all guests.<\/p>\n\"Cooking\n

During my dinner, I have a great conversation with my waiter for about 15 minutes about the wine industry \u2013 you don\u2019t get that at many hotels! Normally a beady eyed restaurant manager would be shushing him away to serve other tables but not here at The Danna<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 hello 5 star service!<\/p>\n

It\u2019s wonderful to watch the staff pend time with children and interact with parents in a way family members normally would. Strange concept but it\u2019s certainly genuine, warm and real.<\/p>\n\"The\n

My viceroy suite is the epitome of indo-brit design; French windows reveal sweeping views over the glistening swimming pool, sandy beaches and luxury yachts bobbing around the islands with others mooring in the marina next door.<\/p>\n\"The\n

It also wins my personal award for the best towel art. I\u2019m being delighted with swans, love hearts, fans and butterfly\u2019s but today it’s deputy dog \u2013 the cutest thing ever!<\/p>\n\"The\n

Dining is definitely one of the highlights in Malaysia<\/a> (why go to Malyasia<\/a> if you\u2019re not crazy about food?) The opulent dining room sparkles with chandeliers as live music from the grand piano makes me think I’m back at the Ritz. I start tucking into kafti prawns with mango and snapper jukedar and day dream about my amazing time at The Danna<\/a>.<\/p>\n\"The\n

The next day I\u2019m heading to the highest cable car in asia<\/a>. It\u2019s an incredible journey up to the peak of Mt. Machinchang and I can spot flashes of yellow from great hornbills hundreds of feet below. The views from the top with its surrounding islands are spellbinding.<\/p>\n\"Malaysia\n

I\u2019m so keen to explore the islands famous wildlife and on my last day I decide to spend a day on the water onboard a mangrove tour. Here I watch macaque monkeys, sea snakes, white bellied sea eagles, cave bats and even experience a bit of life aboard a floating fish farm \u2013 so cool! It gives me a whole new appreciation for my seafood BBQ dinner that I get to indulge in back at The Danna<\/a>.<\/p>\n\"Malaysia\n\"Wildlife\n
