(I may be a little bit older than the average backpacker\u2026.but I\u2019m not TOO OLD to still enjoy the buzz of a hostel!)<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_3916\" style=\"width: 160px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"\/\/www.lastminute.com.au\/vc\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/images\/IMGP2933.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3916\" class=\"wp-image-3916 size-thumbnail\" title=\"TAS blogger Julie at Port Arthur\" src=\"https:\/\/images.trvl-media.com\/media\/content\/expaus\/images\/last-minute\/blog\/uploads\/2011\/10\/IMGP2933-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"TAS blogger Julie at Port Arthur\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-3916\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">TAS blogger Julie at Port Arthur<\/p><\/div>\n<p><strong>Port Arthur<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Okay, so the 7am starts were a little painful (or perhaps it\u2019s is only me and Tara who hate mornings?). However, once we were seated on the bus and introductions made, we quickly forgot our weariness and happily settled back to listen to our tour guide, Scott, fill us in on what adventures were in store for us for day one.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_3915\" style=\"width: 160px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"\/\/www.lastminute.com.au\/vc\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/images\/IMGP2891.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3915\" class=\"wp-image-3915 size-thumbnail\" title=\"Port Arthur\" src=\"https:\/\/images.trvl-media.com\/media\/content\/expaus\/images\/last-minute\/blog\/uploads\/2011\/10\/IMGP2891-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Port Arthur\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-3915\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Port Arthur<\/p><\/div>\n<p>A quick stop for breaky and we were off to explore the historical site of Port Arthur. On the way we made several stops. After an easy walk along the cliffs to Waterfall Bay, Port Arthur, Tasmania\u2019s number one tourist destination, is a MUST for any visitor to Tassie. There is so much to see and do, I highly recommend beginning your day at the site on the free guided tour to learn about the grim and violent history of the early Australian Penal system.<\/p>\n<p>Throughout the day we were also fortunate enough to see other interesting sites including;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Admiring the Tasman Peninsula\u2019s specular scenery &#8211; the Tasman Arch and Devils Kitchen have to be seen to be believed\u2026 breathtaking.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Visiting the beautiful historic township of Richmond on the way back to Hobart, with fifty 19th century buildings once used as a convict station and military post.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The views walking across the bridge towards St John\u2019s church is beautiful.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_3918\" style=\"width: 160px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"\/\/www.lastminute.com.au\/vc\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/images\/IMGP3021.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3918\" class=\"wp-image-3918 size-thumbnail\" title=\"Mount Field National Park\" src=\"https:\/\/images.trvl-media.com\/media\/content\/expaus\/images\/last-minute\/blog\/uploads\/2011\/10\/IMGP3021-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Mount Field National Park\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-3918\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Mount Field National Park<\/p><\/div>\n<p><strong>A touch of nature<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Day two was all about rainforests, mountains, waterfalls and wildlife. Still with Scott, our super friendly guide, we headed out to Mount Field National Park. As we walked through the lush rainforest, Scott entertained and educated the group with his wealth of information on the forest and its inhabitants.<\/p>\n<p>My highlights for the day included:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Admiring Russell Falls<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Standing next to the worlds\u2019 tallest hardwood trees&#8230; incredible.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_3920\" style=\"width: 160px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"\/\/www.lastminute.com.au\/vc\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/images\/IMGP3053.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3920\" class=\"wp-image-3920 size-thumbnail\" title=\"Tassie Devil at Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary\" src=\"https:\/\/images.trvl-media.com\/media\/content\/expaus\/images\/last-minute\/blog\/uploads\/2011\/10\/IMGP3053-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Tassie Devil at Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-3920\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Tassie Devil at Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary<\/p><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Visiting the Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary &#8211; I cannot recommend this place enough. The animal tour was great and we even got to watch the Tassie Devils feeding &#8211; a unique Tasmanian experience.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We ended the day with a trip up to Mount Wellington, and took in the view of Hobart below us, even some snow was still about.<\/p>\n<p>Tired after a full day out, we arrived back at Central City, so thankful for such an enjoyable day with everyone on the bus and our fantastic guide, Scott.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Freycinet National Park<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Freycinet National Park is in my opinion one of the world\u2019s most beautiful spots.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_3922\" style=\"width: 160px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"\/\/www.lastminute.com.au\/vc\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/images\/IMGP3102.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3922\" class=\"wp-image-3922 size-thumbnail\" title=\"Guide Jerermy showing us where we are on the map\" src=\"https:\/\/images.trvl-media.com\/media\/content\/expaus\/images\/last-minute\/blog\/uploads\/2011\/10\/IMGP3102-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Guide Jerermy showing us where we are on the map\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-3922\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Guide Jerermy showing us where we are on the map<\/p><\/div>\n<p>With our new guide for the day, Jeremy, we had an absolute ball, exploring the famous pristine beaches. I cannot tell you how many photos I took. The whole tour group was blown away by the beauty of the area. The stunning cliffs and clear blue water was breathtaking. My highlight was walking along a cliff edge where a cave was in the rock face, yes I also managed to climb into it (with some very good persuasion from Jeremy).<\/p>\n<p>A stop at Kate\u2019s berry farm to sample the world\u2019s most mouthwatering humbleberry pie and it was smiles all round on the way back to Hobart.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The verdict<\/strong><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_3927\" style=\"width: 160px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"\/\/www.lastminute.com.au\/vc\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/images\/IMGP3200.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3927\" class=\"wp-image-3927 size-thumbnail\" title=\"TAS blogger Julie &amp; her daughter, Tara\" src=\"https:\/\/images.trvl-media.com\/media\/content\/expaus\/images\/last-minute\/blog\/uploads\/2011\/10\/IMGP3200-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"TAS blogger Julie &amp; her daughter, Tara\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-3927\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">TAS blogger Julie &amp; her daughter, Tara<\/p><\/div>\n<p>After being a little worried about staying in a backpackers hostel and early morning starts, I must admit, this was an experience I could do all over again! The day trips with Tours Tas were great value for money.
