The words \u2018eggs Benedict\u2019 immediately get my appetite going as my mind scrolls through the places on my brunching to-do-list. Add the word \u2018buffet\u2019 to the mix and I\u2019m already planning my entr\u00e9e, main, and post-main plates.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

So when I booked my flights to Sydney for a recent work trip, I had two things on the agenda for that weekend: see the sights, and find somewhere to eat a hearty, delicious brekky. Luckily I came across the Captain Cook Sydney Harbour Weekend Breakfast Cruise<\/a>, which would not only satisfy my tastebuds and buffet fixation, but also take me on a sightseeing tour of Sydney\u2019s most loved icons.<\/p>\n

On Sunday morning, Mr LML and I stroll across the Pyrmont Bridge and head for King St Wharf, just a 15-minute walk from Oaks Goldsbrough Apartments<\/a> in Darling Harbour. The friendly crew greet us as we step on board the double-decker boat, take the stairs to the top level and are shown to our table by the window. I\u2019m not sure which is the most exciting – the glasses of sparkling that are poured for us as we sit down, the large floor-to-ceiling windows showing off the harbour, or the buffet set up only a metre away. In the end, we decide it’s all worth toasting to!<\/p>\n

As we glide out of Darling Harbour and head for Circular Quay (the second pick-up point), Mr LML turns to me with a look of anticipation as he unwraps his knife and fork. That’s my cue to meander over to the buffet. With everyone else seeming to have chosen to board at Circular Quay, we have the boat (and the buffet) almost to ourselves for the next 10 minutes. The table has everything: from bain-maries full of hot herbed sausages, saut\u00e9ed mushrooms, and crispy hash browns, to tiered stands stacked high with warm muffins and delicious sliced cakes.<\/p>\n

It even has my all-time brekky favourite \u2013 eggs Benedict!<\/p>\n

With so much nom-licious food on offer, we’re grateful we have an hour-and-a-half to enjoy it. We plate up, then settle in to enjoy the view.<\/p>\n

The experience is like being in a rotating restaurant (only better!), with the view changing every minute. In between bites of gooey eggs Benedict, I watch the sails of the Opera House pass by and the shores of Kirribilli come into view. It\u2019s a beautiful morning for a cruise.<\/p>\n

After loosening our belts, Mr LML and I decide to return to the buffet table for a second course of sweet treats.<\/p>\n

As usual, our eyes are bigger than our stomachs, and we soon realise there’s no way we’re going to fit in a third plate (despite the food being so delicious). Accepting this, we sit back, sip our cups of tea, and take in the waterfront architecture and city skyline views as we commence our return. As we pass Cremorne Point, the Harbour Bridge, city, and Opera House all come into view together.<\/p>\n

Instead of heading back to Darling Harbour, we decide to disembark at Circular Quay so we can wander to The Rocks Markets and explore the stalls set up along the cobbled streets and laneways. It’s a lovely way to spend our final morning in Sydney.<\/p>\n
