Want to escape the city for a quick weekend away to a place that\u2019s close, quiet and relaxing with nice accommodation? Well I\u2019ve got the spot for you \u2013 Batemans Bay.<\/a>Just over three hours south of Sydney<\/a>, it\u2019s perfect for a sneaky weekend away. Shoot down after work on Friday and then you can leave with lots of time on Sunday to explore the South Coast\u2019s<\/a> cute towns en route to reality.<\/p>\n\"<\/a>\n

Here are my top picks on where to stay, what to do and the best bits to look out for on your leisurely Sunday drive back.<\/p>\n

Where to Stay<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

There are loads of accommodation options<\/a> in the area ranging from camping grounds, motor inns, hotels and big self-contained resorts like Coachhouse\u2019s Marina Resort<\/a>, my pick of the bunch. Located just on the water\u2019s edge, Coachhouse’s has a huge variety of villas ranging from 1 bedroom ones up to a 3 bedroom Luxury Villa that is literally 20 metres from the ocean. And yep, this one\u2019s ours and even though it\u2019s a tad large for just the two of us (note to self: bring friends next time), it has absolutely everything we need and even has a spa bath. I can see this weekend\u2019s going to be as relaxing as I imagined it would be!<\/p>\n\"<\/a>\n

What to do<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Have lunch on the water:<\/strong> make sure you lock away at least two hours to chill out and have a long lunch at one of the riverside restaurants in the township. The Reef Restaurant<\/a>, Starfish Deli<\/a> or Barkala Kitchen<\/a> are perfect for this!<\/p>\n\"<\/a>\n

Do the Wineries:<\/strong> the South Coast is not just about beaches and surfing, it\u2019s also home to a few must-see wineries. Check out \u2013 Bawley Vale Estate<\/a>, Tilba Valley Wines<\/a>, Cuppitt\u2019s Winery<\/a> or if fruit wine is more your thing, stop by at Elysium Wines<\/a> and taste some of the wines made from the native berries in the area.<\/p>\n

Stroll along the Moruya Markets:<\/strong> every Saturday morning, the Moruya Markets<\/a>, just a 15 minute drive from Batemans Bay are so worth putting on your list. I always find markets pretty intriguing (good for people watching) and these don\u2019t disappoint. You\u2019ll find everything here from fresh produce, bric-a-brac, live music, crafty items and little tasty treats.<\/p>\n\"<\/a>\n

Get walking:<\/strong> Batemans Bay and surrounds are renowned for awesome walking tracks and most of these follow the coast. Check out the options here.<\/a><\/p>\n\"<\/a>\n

Eat Oysters:<\/strong> Batemans Bay is famous for its Clyde River Oysters and one thing not to miss is an Oyster Farm tour<\/a> and tasting.<\/p>\n

What to look out for when you leave<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Grab brekkie somewhere in town before you zoom off. Tip \u2013 Check out Grapevine caf\u00e9<\/a> at the Garden Centre \u2013 brilliant!<\/p>\n\"<\/a>\n

The town of Mollymook:<\/a><\/strong> stop off at the beach for some fresh air and a coffee.<\/p>\n

Berry<\/strong><\/a>: make sure you give yourself at least an hour just to browse the main street of Berry and snap a few cute treats. Not to miss is the Berry Lolly shop, the gift shops lining the main street and the bakery is pretty amazing too \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

Stop for lunch in Gerringong<\/a><\/strong>: we found a gem of a spot for a vegetarian lunch at Perfect Break Vegetarian Caf\u00e9<\/a> \u2013 I recommend trying the juices and if you\u2019re feeling hungry, the vegetarian nachos. But come early- this place is packed all the time!<\/p>\n
