I LOVE to holiday in the sun. Warm weather, sitting by the pool, sipping on fruity cocktails. You know, that’s my kind of thing.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

So when my partner and I felt we were overdue for a holiday, we decided to take the kids and head off to sunny Palm Cove,<\/a> where the rainforest meets the reef in Tropical North Queensland.<\/p>\n

We hop on our flight to Cairns<\/a> and are soaked in sunshine as soon as we exit the airport, no complaining here!<\/p>\n

We hire<\/a> a convertible car (just to splurge) and drive to Palm Cove which is only 20 minutes away. At the Sea Temple Resort and Spa,<\/a> reception staff greet us with a smile and offer a cold face towel to freshen up. Yes, it\u2019s the little things that count.<\/p>\n

Our huge three bedroom apartment has everything we need, including a fully equipped kitchen, washing machine, clothes dryer, hair dryer, ironing board\u2026 you name it.<\/p>\n

We do what any normal people would do in weather like this, make a b line for the pools! There are three to choose from, a big one for families, a smaller one just for adults and a toddler pool. Because we’re here during the beginning of wet\/stinger season, having other swimming options than the ocean is perfect.<\/p>\n

Hot tip: <\/strong><\/em>Even though the stingers mean you can\u2019t swim in the ocean during Summer, you can still go for walks and play on the sand. Just make sure Mr LML keeps an eye on the kids while you\u2019re sunbaking \ud83d\ude09<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Got some spare days in Palm Cove? Here are my family-friendly must do’s when you head to the Tropical North.

\n1. Head to the Daintree Rainforest<\/strong><\/p>\n

The heritage listed Daintree Rainforest is the oldest in the world, full of animals and plants unique to this amazing place. Get there by driving north from Cairns, along Captain Cook Highway for an hour along the coastline and finish your journey where the road ends, at the Daintree Village. There you can go on a river cruise<\/a> and spot some crocodiles, go shopping and have some lunch.<\/p>\n

Don\u2019t forget to stop along the way and take in the views.<\/p><\/div>\n

2. Mossman Gorge<\/strong><\/p>\n

Bring your swimmers! You can stop at the Mossman Gorge on the drive to the Daintree. Once you arrive, a shuttle bus will take you up to the Gorge. From there you can explore the rainforest and swim in the river – yes, the water is cold but after a few minutes it is absolutely beautiful! Trust me, if my children can walk straight in without batting an eyelid, then you can do it too. It is amazing<\/strong> swimming in the fresh water surrounded by rainforest. During our swim it even started raining which made the experience even better.<\/p>\n

3. Hartley\u2019s Crocodile Adventures. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Get close with the crocs. At Hartley\u2019s Crocodile Adventures<\/a> there are plenty of animals to see and it\u2019s lots of fun for both adults and kids. Feed a crocodile you say? No problem! Take a photo with a 18 month old crocodile? Done!<\/p>\n

4. Kuranda Skyrail <\/strong><\/p>\n

The Kuranda Skyrail is a scenic cableway that runs over Barron Gorge National Park. A one way journey will take you around 1.5hrs. This is a great way to see the rainforest and the views are breathtaking from up high. There are two stops along the way where you can hop off and explore.<\/p>\n\"skyrail1\"<\/a>\n

5. Unwind on the Esplanade <\/strong><\/p>\n

Hungry? Here you can find lots of restaurants and wherever you choose to eat, you will have an amazing view of Palm Beach. After, take a nice long walk with the fam and enjoy the atmosphere.<\/p>\n
