Unfortunately, not everything that happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. Your body will still remember the consequences of everything you eat, drink and do (or not do), even if the details remain foggy in your mind.<br \/>\nBut you don\u2019t have to suffer a post-holiday health hangover and find your pleasure giving way to pain when you return home and jump on the scales. Here, Sally Symonds, Fitness Expert at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rescu.com.au?cid=lmau_blog_post\">www.rescu.com.au<\/a>, shares her top tips to help ensure that your holidays are both happy\u2026and healthy:<br \/>\n<strong>1. Try to get in tip-top shape before you go<\/strong> &#8211; If you\u2019re feeling trim and terrific when you leave for your holiday not only will you look super fabulous in your bikini, you\u2019ll also be much more likely to maintain your healthier habits while you\u2019re away (because you\u2019ll remember all the hard work that went into getting fit in the first place!)<br \/>\n<a href=\"\/\/www.lastminute.com.au\/vc\/blog\/here%e2%80%99s-to-happy-healthy-holidays\/shutterstock_93940792\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-13898\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-13898 size-full\" title=\"shutterstock_93940792\" src=\"https:\/\/images.trvl-media.com\/media\/content\/expaus\/images\/last-minute\/blog\/uploads\/2012\/09\/shutterstock_93940792.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"382\" \/><\/a><strong>2. Choose your accommodation carefully<\/strong> &#8211; Pick a hotel with a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lastminute.com.au\/hotel\/gym?cid=lmau_blog_post\">gym<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lastminute.com.au\/hotel\/swimming-pool?cid=lmau_blog_post\">pool<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lastminute.com.au\/hotel\/tennis-court?cid=lmau_blog_post\">tennis court<\/a>, or one that\u2019s near scenic tracks for walking or running. Some hotels even provide guests with the option of booking fit or workout rooms, which have their own fitness equipment \u2013 so you can exercise in your pyjamas if you want to!<\/p>\n<a href=\"\/\/www.lastminute.com.au\/vc\/blog\/here%e2%80%99s-to-happy-healthy-holidays\/shutterstock_9923524\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-13905\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-13905 size-full\" title=\"shutterstock_9923524\" src=\"https:\/\/images.trvl-media.com\/media\/content\/expaus\/images\/last-minute\/blog\/uploads\/2012\/09\/shutterstock_9923524-e1347495745694.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><\/a>\n<p>Alternatively, many of the most effective exercises (such as squats, lunges, planks and push-ups) require very little space and no equipment other than your own body weight (or suitcase if you\u2019re particularly strong).<\/p>\n<p><strong>3. Integrate some healthy experiences into your trip<\/strong> &#8211; Pre-book a hiking tour, bridge climb or other adventure activity that ensures you\u2019ll keep active while having fun when you\u2019re away \u2013 bonus!<br \/>\n<a href=\"\/\/www.lastminute.com.au\/vc\/blog\/here%e2%80%99s-to-happy-healthy-holidays\/shutterstock_49966309\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-13897\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-13897 size-full\" title=\"shutterstock_49966309\" src=\"https:\/\/images.trvl-media.com\/media\/content\/expaus\/images\/last-minute\/blog\/uploads\/2012\/09\/shutterstock_49966309.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"414\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>4. Before indulging in extra eats and drinks, always ask yourself, \u201cis it worth it?\u201d<\/strong> &#8211; Sometimes it is, but often it\u2019s not. Trying new foods and local delicacies is surely one of the most enjoyable aspects of travel, and you can still taste test and stay healthy \u2013 just be mindful of how much you eat. Choose your alcoholic drinks wisely<\/strong> &#8211; Remember that free drinks aren\u2019t free of calories! You don\u2019t have to avoid alcohol all together, but try substituting a calorie-laden tipple with healthier alternatives, and stick to one or two drinks at a sitting. Swap sugary soft drink mixers for soda water and lime, or choose a low-carb beer brand . Well holidays can actually be one of the best times to lose weight because you\u2019re less stressed, so your body produces less cortisol, the fat-storing stress hormone.<\/p>\n<p>Holidays can also mean more time to exercise and more opportunities to exercise in different ways (which enhances the body\u2019s neuromuscular stimulation, making your exercise more effective).
