Wind down at the BRAND-NEW Wyndham Hotel Melbourne

Hotel Review: Wyndham Hotel Melbourne

Another day, another new hotel opening in Melbourne. I bet that’s what you’re thinking, right? Maybe, but few are quite like the brand-spanking-new Wyndham Hotel Melbourne.

When I find my way to the hotel, I’m impressed by its central location – only a short walk from Southern Cross Station and a 10-minute walk from the Bourke St Mall! This is very important for all the shopping I have planned at H&M, Zara, etc.  😉

As I enter the reception area, I’m greeted by two smiling faces behind the desk, plus a porter who kindly attends to my bag and takes it to my room. Check-in is a breeze and the staff could not be more hospitable in ensuring my every need is met.

Upstairs, I’m amazed by the size of my new, temporary home – the apartment is HUGE! I have my own lounge area fitted out with a massive couch, plus two additional sofas in case I have visitors. I even have a balcony where I can sit and people-watch as the Melbournites below go about their business.

The kitchen (not that I’m planning much cooking) is stylish and modern. It’s equipped with a gas stove, oven, and microwave, plus a full-size fridge. No need to lay down the wine and champagne bottles in this baby – they can all stand upright!

Perfect for entertaining, or maybe just a quick pre-dinner wine 😉

The Wyndham has also catered to my caffeine needs, supplying a percolator and ground coffee. Let’s be honest – after a full day of shopping, I’m going to need some decent java before I head out for an evening at the theatre. 😉

The two bedrooms are both large, with the main housing a queen bed and ensuite. Each bedroom features a little bit of Melbourne, with pictures of our favourite city hanging above the beds.

Now it’s on to explore the rest of this brand-new hotel, including the library (which is equipped with a fireplace for those cold Melbourne days when all you want to do is curl up with a good book). The gym is state-of-the-art, and I cannot help but feel obliged to take advantage of the new treadmills, exercise balls, and free weights.

And let’s not forget the rooftop pool. Yes, that’s right – a rooftop pool! It’s the perfect reward after a hard gym session, plus you can admire the view across some of Melbourne’s most famous buildings. The pool is heated year round and has a sundeck and barbecue area, which is perfect for entertaining family and friends during your stay.

What a view!

It’s hard to say goodbye to the Wyndham, so don’t be surprised if you find yourself wanting to extend your stay. Don’t worry about running out of clothes – the hotel has a great guest laundry, so it’s fine to pack light (which means more room in your suitcase for shopping!).

Wyndham Hotel Melbourne is still growing, with a retail and dining precinct under construction. Next time I visit I won’t ever have to leave…
