5 hotels perfect for embracing the Aussie winter
Embrace your Inner Elsa! Cos the cold never bothered you anyway, right? Here are my top five hotels for making the most of our so-called “winter” 😉
1. Emirates One&Only Wolgan Valley Australia, Blue Mountains

OK, three words: Double-sided fireplace. Yep, it’s a thing at this place. Not only that, but Wolgan Valley’s villas are inspired by traditional homesteads, and their design embraces the signature warm tones and country vibes of the style. Plus, if you want an up-close viewing of the local wildlife from the comfort of your cabin, Wolgan Valley thoughtfully provide binoculars. G’day, Skippy.
2. Spicers Potts Point, Sydney

Yes, you heard right, Spicers is in Sydney! Spicers Potts Point opened in June 2017, and if you stay this winter you’ll be one of its first guests. Its 20 luxury guestrooms (just 20!) mix heritage charm with a relaxed, contemporary feel. With the Harbour Bridge, CBD, super trendy cafes, and fab shops on your doorstep, you can make the most of Sydney’s mild winter days by walking errywhere. In fact, just wear activewear the whole time, cos why not?

Experience alllll the luxe winter vibes at Hotel Hotel, from the bold colours and heated bathroom floors, to the clay-rendered walls and plush wool carpet. Breathe fresh winter air from hotel windows that actually open (say what?!) and if you get cold, jump straight in to a designer bathrobe and knock back a few locally sourced minibar items. That’s right, advice from the pros 😉

With ski-in/ski-out access, I don’t think you can get more “embrace winter” than this. QT Falls Creek is the perfect way to pimp your winter holiday, with luxurious 5-star accommodation boasting uninterrupted mountain views. Before you arrive, contact the QT Ski Concierge and they’ll make sure you have all the right passes and gear… handy much? After a long day of carving up (or butchering? ;-)) the slopes, treat yoself at the on-site spa, or sit back and relax in your very own balcony hot tub. And don’t forget Bazaar, QT’s interactive market experience. Not sure what that means? Just think… buffet on 5-star steroids. Sizzler but wayyyy better. All-you-can-eat restaurant but VERY fancy. Got the point? So, yep, you should eat there!
5. Peppers Cradle Mountain Lodge, Tasmania

If luxury in the wilderness is your thing (when is it not?), Peppers Cradle Mountain Lodge ticks all the boxes. Getting cosy is one of winter’s finest perks, and Peppers’ pine cabins are made for it. Hold out for the evening, when a selection of gourmet surprises arrive, including canapes and cheese plates (*drooling*). At the end of day – or whenever, really – soak up the surrounds (literally) in your own private hot tub. I mean, really, why haven’t you booked already?
