We all know the signs… it’s been months since your pasty white legs have seen the sun, you’ve forgotten what your Camilla caftan looks like and the only time you read trashy mags is at the hairdresser, not poolside …you need a holi-yay!
And poolsides don’t get much better than sunny Port Douglas! In no particular order, here are my favourite pools to get acquainted with in the region, like now:
1. Oaks Lagoons
There’s a reason ‘lagoons’ features in the name of this property, it has SIX of them! You can never have too many lagoon-style pools though…right? Use a different one each day of your stay if you wish 😉 If you get sick of pool-time (unlikely but possible) the other bonus of Oaks Lagoons is it’s super close to Four Mile Beach. Hire a bike from the hotel and make your way down to the beach to check out the local scenery in style.
2. Pool Port Douglas
If the name doesn’t give it away this hotel caters for all your aqua needs. Set against a lush tropical backdrop, your self-contained apartment is surrounded by a 185 metre central swimming lagoon. You’ll have your tan on before you can say ‘it’s not fake’.
3. QT Port Douglas
Hip and funky… ‘nuff said! Featuring an outdoor lagoon pool with a pool bar as well as a lap pool, be sure to pack your designer swimwear for this stay. Trust me, you won’t want to leave 😉

4. Shantara Resort Port Douglas
If you’re after a kid-free kind of getaway then Shantara Resort Port Douglas is for you. This hotel boasts two lagoon style swimming pools, a day spa and is an Adults only retreat – helloooo cheeky weekend away 😉 See those sun lounges…they’re waiting for you.
