The Girls’ Guide to Las Vegas!

Las Vegas is bright, loud and a little crazy, it’s a place unlike any other and in my opinion a must visit, even if just once in your lifetime.

If you’re opposed to noise, laughing at intoxicated people and a touch of tackiness then I’d say don’t stop at Sin City, keep on going to Palm Springs… or Florida! This place has it all: great weather, gorgeous hotels, luxurious spas, amazing restaurants and bars and shops galore. Oh, and how could I forget the never-ending, free entertainment that comes from people watching on the Strip! It’s like an episode of Cops meets The Hangover movie.

But, despite the craziness, it’s the perfect destination for a girls’ getaway; lounge by the pool, shop ’til you drop, sip on cocktails before, during and after dinner and then dance the night away. When you can’t dance anymore then head back to your hotel at an ungodly hour (heels in hand, of course), sleep in until midday and then get up and do it all over again!  Sounds like the perfect girls’ getaway, right?

I’ve put together my top picks for the ultimate girls’ getaway to Las Vegas, so grab your girlfriends and book that trip!

Top 5 Hotels

  1. Wynn
  2. Bellagio
  3. Planet Hollywood
  4. Hilton Grand Vacation Suites
  5. Luxury Suites at The Signature

If you’re looking for the ultimate Sin City experience then look no further than the Wynn or Bellagio or head to Planet Hollywood for a cheaper option. If you’re lucky, you might see the likes of Britney Spears or Holly Madison. Not a fan of the casinos? Book a room at the Hilton Grand Vacation Suites or head to the Luxury Suites at The Signature – some rooms include a Jacuzzi, kitchen and balconies.

Top 5 restaurants

  1. Nobu, Caesars Palace
  2. Gallagher’s, New York New York
  3. Todd English’s Olives at Bellagio
  4. Noodles at Bellagio
  5. Sushi Samba at The Venetian

Foodies are in for a treat when they visit Sin City, some of the world’s best Chefs have set up shop including Nobu Matsuhisa at Caesars Palace. Steak lovers go directly to Gallagher’s, do not pass go! New York, New York’s steak house isn’t exactly cheap, but their Surf N Turf is incredible and worth every penny. Todd English’s Olives is Italian cuisine and located right on the Bellagio Fountains. Make sure you get in early to nab a seat outside for killer views of the water show. For a more casual meal head to Noodles inside the casino, Executive Chef Patrick Lee serves authentic regional noodle dishes from Thailand, Japan, China and Vietnam and some amazing dim sum.

Looking for a quiet bite and somewhere to rest your feet after a day of shopping? Pop into Sushi Samba at the Venetian for the incredible Japanese A5 Wagyu Beef Gyoza (don’t share with anyone), the Rock Shrimp Tempura and Sake, of course.

Top 5 shopping hotspots

  1. Fashion Show Mall
  2. Forum Shops at Caesars Palace
  3. Grand Canal Shops at The Venetian and The Palazzo
  4. Miracle Mile at Planet Hollywood
  5. Las Vegas North Premium Outlets

You can shop til you drop in Las Vegas because the strip is filled with all of your favourites. If you have plenty of time then I’d spend at least half a day wandering around each, but if pressed for time then look up the store directories beforehand and see where you want to go. Note: Wear very comfortable shoes. While all located on the strip (except for Las Vegas North Premium Outlets) they’re at least a few hundred metres apart and are very, very big. I attempted to shop Vegas in heeled boots and two hours (two sakés and three pairs of socks later) I was trying to get street performers dressed as Alan from The Hangover to carry me back to my hotel.

Top 5 sites to see

  1. Fountains of Bellagio
  2. Conservatory and Botanical Gardens at the Bellagio
  3. Lake of Dreams at the Wynn
  4. The Canals at The Venetian
  5. The Neon Museum

When visiting Vegas there are five sites you must see, two of which can be found at the Bellagio. You can’t go to Las Vegas and not see the famous Fountains of Bellagio shows, they are mesmerising! Inside the hotel is the ever-changing Conservatory and Botanical Gardens, gorgeous displays designed for different seasons and occasions. Head over at the Wynn and grab a drink at one of the bars or restaurants overlooking the Lake of Dreams. Every half hour the Lake comes alive with dazzling shows including a cute (though some think he’s a little freaky) singing frog!

Pretend you’re in Italy over at The Venetian as you walk along the canals and listen to the gondolier’s serenade their guests. After, you can walk over to the forum and indulge in a big bowl of pasta or gelato. For something a little different head down to Fremont Street to check out the restored vintage neon signs that have been discarded from old hotels and casinos. You’ll feel like you’re back in the day of the Rat Pack.

Top 5 girlie entertainment

  1. See Britney Spears LIVE
  2. Check out a show
  3. Enjoy a spa day at Spa Aquae
  4. Hit the nightclubs!
  5. Night pool party at XS Night Swim at the Wynn Encore

I don’t know about you, but seeing Britney Spears in concert is on my bucket list. Lip-synching or not, girl can perform! Get tickets to one of the many shows playing in Vegas. Check out the amazing acrobatics at one of the Cirque du Soleil shows, be mesmerised by magic at David Copperfield or appreciate the male species at the Thunder from Down Under revue. 😉 About 20 minutes from the strip is the JW Marriott hotel, which homes the most incredible spa, Spa Aquae. Book in an afternoon, or better yet a whole day, of spa treatments and pampering. You absolutely must have the Shirodhara Ritual, it’s the most relaxing massage I’ve ever experienced and I guarantee you’ll feel incredible after.

Put on your favourite sparkly dress and lashings of lipstick and head to one of Las Vegas’s hottest nightclubs to dance the night away. You’ve got so many to choose from including TAO at The Venetian, Marquee at The Cosmopolitan and Tryst at The Wynn…just to name a few.

Sin City is known for it’s pool parties and XS Night Swim at the Wynn Encore might just be the most famous… or infamous rather, Prince Harry was seen partying with a bevy of women at this particular pool party.

There really is so much to do in Las Vegas, you could be there for days and still not see / do it all.  Maybe the girl’s getaways can be a regular thing…
