Staff postcards: Karly says hello to Norfolk Island!

You recently visited Norfolk Island for work (and a little pleasure!). Tell us, where are the best places to eat and drink there?
Breakfast is my favourite meal of the day so make sure to stop in at The Olive Café. It’s located in The Village and the breakfast burrito is a perfect start to the day.
Hot tip: If you’re hanging for a caffeine fix, there are plenty of great options around town – Anson Coffee (which is grown locally) has free coffee tasting every Sunday from 11am in the Village Centre. |
Before dinner, stop in for a cocktail at MiniBar – Norfolk’s funkiest bar! It’s based on an eclectic Berlin bar build and furnished from Norfolk found objects.
Perfection on a plate is an understatement when you visit Norfolk Blue Restaurant Grill & Bar! They specialise in Norfolk Blue beef, a unique breed of cattle produced on their very own 100 Acre farm. Be sure to order the Norfolk Blue Beef Ribs, it’s heaven, although not for the faint hearted. If you can squeeze in dessert (and who can’t?), I recommend getting down and dirty with the Bounty Chocolate Flan.
What about the best places to shop?
Max’s Department Store is a must! It has been operating on Norfolk Island for 40 years and it’s a great place to stock up on perfume and cosmetics – TAX FREE.
Stop by at Craig’s Knitwear for beautiful imported knits. A bulk of their stock is imported from Europe, the UK and North America.
If you’re looking for some new bling, be sure to drop in to Diamonds Exclusive – they are the only premium jewellers and diamond merchants on Norfolk Island. Oh la la.
What other activities do you recommend for visitors to Norfolk Island?
Norfolk Island is truly a beautiful place! Make sure you stop by and soak in the historical sights of Kingston. Emily Bay is also a beautiful spot and great for swimming and snorkelling in the warmer months. For the wino’s, Two Chimneys Wines is a must do, it’s Norfolk Islands first and only Winery.
Where did you stay?
South Pacific Resort Hotel is located super close to The Village on Taylors Road. The penthouse is spacious and very modern with all the special touches of a city hotel including robes and slippers.
And lastly, what is your number one travel tip for visitors to Norfolk Island?
Great review Karly.
