5 reasons you’ll love Mantra PortSea

Port Douglas has ditched its small-beach-town vibe and replaced it with a Noosa-esque chic, complete with trendy shops, great pubs, and awesome places to eat, all close to natural wonders. This expansion has brought a huge range of new accommodation options, which can make booking confusing. But don’t worry! On my recent trip, I stayed at the Mantra PortSea and found it to be a perfect stay for groups and families. Here’s why:

1. Location, Location – Not too close and not too far is the key. Mantra PortSea is just far enough away from the strip that you’ll feel like you’re in a resort oasis, but close enough so that you can still walk to the beach, shops, and all the attractions in town. A short stroll will have you treating your taste buds in one of Port Douglas’s awesome eateries, like foodie hot spot Betty’s Bohemian Beach Cafe. Or check out one of Port Douglas’s other big resorts, like QT Port Douglas and Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort, both of which have amazing spas and pools (the latter you can enjoy if you visit the spa).

2. Dual Key Rooms – Whether you’re travelling with friends or the fam, dual key rooms allow everyone to have their own space while still technically sharing the same apartment. Each bedroom has its own bathroom, TV, air con, and bar fridge, while the larger apartment also has a balcony, kitchen and lounge area to share. The only downside is having to scissor-paper-rock it out for who gets the bigger room 😉

3. Pools for Everyone – If you want to swim with a crocodile or a cocktail, Mantra PortSea has you covered. There are three pools to choose from – one with a swim-up bar, one for laps, and one with a slide and life size croc statue to keep the kids entertained. This is awesome, cos the beach in Port Douglas is sometimes visited by stingers and the occasional croc (!) so multiple pool options is a must.

4. Breakfast Choice – Mantra PortSea has a decent continental breakfast that opens early, which is great when you have a tour booked or just want to get on with your day. If you know it’s going to be a struggle to get everyone out of bed, book a 1-bedroom (or larger) apartment so you have a full kitchen to prepare whatever you like, whenever you like. And if you want to stroll into town, there are heaps of cafes to kick-start your day. Nothing excites me more than a good brekky, so options are always good!

5. Value for Money – You expect a Mantra property to be a modern hotel in a great location for an awesome price, and Mantra PortSea delivers in spades. It’s everything you need for a group or family Port Douglas getaway. And, their beds are super comfy. A key criteria for a happy Port Douglas stay!
