Review: Ibis Styles Brisbane
At the risk of sounding like a travel snob, I haven’t stayed in a lot of ‘Ibis’ hotels in my time but when the fancier sounding Ibis Styles was recommended to me for a recent work trip, I was intrigued.
Part of the Accor Hotels Group, Ibis Styles brings to the family of brands a budget friendly design option making it a great pick for both business and leisure travel.

I’m checking out Ibis Styles Brisbane Elizabeth Street. As the name suggests, the central CBD location is super convenient. Busy Queen Street Mall is just around the corner and Eagle Street Pier, with its great selection of restaurants and bars, is an easy stroll away.
The first thing you’ll notice about this 367 room hotel is the bright colours. The rainbow-like bursts are everywhere you look – right from the lobby to your room – which creates a bold, modern and playful vibe with stacks of personality.

My check-in with the friendly reception team – available 24/7 – is speedy and I’m very happy to find myself in a ‘River view corner deluxe’ room. The 25 square metre space has panoramic views of the city skyline and Brisbane river, showcased beautifully with the floor to ceiling glass windows. Not what you’d typically expect of an ‘economy’ hotel brand!

The quiet room is equipped with all the basics (tea and coffee making facilities, work desk, bar fridge and Smart TV) but it’s the king bed, fluffy pillows, natural light, free wi-fi and easy to access power points next to the bed that get my big tick of approval.
There’s a lot to love too beyond the room itself, especially The Social Restaurant and Bar.
You can tell the designers had a lot of fun in this space where the bright colours and playful personality really come to life. Think eye-catching wall murals, lolly displays and even a collection of old-school games like Connect Four.

It’s here you’ll enjoy a well-stocked buffet breakfast. Probably not surprising given the vibrant surroundings, Fruit Loops seem to be a popular choice among guests!

The bar is also home to some great offers including $5 happy hour everyday between 4pm and 6pm and $12 cocktails all day, everyday.
So for style and convenience that doesn’t hurt your bank account, put Ibis Styles on your list next time you’re in Brisbane.
