Hotel review: Petit Palace Savoy Alfonso XII, Madrid

Madrid is a city of mixed reviews. Only staying there for two nights, I can’t say I explored the city to its fullest. But then again if art galleries and boutique shopping are your thing (they are mine :)) this is a city you’re likely to get on with!

If you’re wondering where to stay, look no further than the Petit Palace Savoy Alfonso XII. If I had to describe it in one word, LUXE!
Located in the Retiro district of Madrid, known for its large luscious park Parque del Retiro, shopping, restaurants and museums, Petit Palace is the place to be.

Don’t be fooled by its heritage façade; this hotel elegantly mixes new and old throughout, whilst still maintaining a sleek and luxurious feel.

Don’t judge a book by its cover!

The spacious rooms are full of nice touches from the designer furniture and light fittings to the practical in-room laptop and free internet.

Oh la la!

Check out the view!

As a Petit Palace hotel, Savoy Alfonso XII comes with the signature body shower. Step inside the bathroom and you’ll feel as if you’re in your own private spa retreat.

Make sure to give yourself a good start to the day and begin with brekkie at the hotel. A smorgasboard of local meats, cheeses, fruits and more, the buffet will take care of all your morning needs (including real coffee!).

Once you’ve had your fill go exploring, and check out more of Madrid. The city is full of amazing galleries, museums, tapas bars and fantastic shopping spots!

To get your culture fix skip the Prado museum, and the day long queues for the much quieter Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia, and take in Picasso’s larger than life Guernica.

As for shopping, there’s nothing better than walking around the cobblestone streets all afternoon, wondering from boutique stores to bargain outlet shops. Not to mention the street vendors selling ridiculously good knock-off handbags!

BFF photo time!
