Easter getaways the lastminute way
The four day bliss that is the Easter long weekend might not be far away, but that doesn’t mean it’s too late to book yourself a getaway.
According to a survey we conducted last year, nearly three in four Aussies experience feelings of regret when a long weekend rolls around and they’re staying put at home – don’t let that be you!
With that in mind, we’ve asked our team of hotel experts to give us the best deals in their region and tips for making the most of your valuable long weekend. Read on for part one. You can thank us later.

Which hotel would you recommend for Easter?
Diamant Boutique Hotel Sydney – by 8Hotels, Potts Point
Why is this hotel your pick?
This hotel basically defines the word ‘funky’. It’s located back behind the iconic Coke sign in Potts Point and everything about the hotel screams ‘cool’… from the recently refurbished corridors and common areas to the black and white prints decorating the walls.
You’re close to all the action that the Cross has to offer, right on top of the restaurants of Victoria Street and only a 15 minute walk (or a 5 minute taxi) into the city. Their Easter Special starts from just $175/night and includes an upgrade, a late check out and an Easter gift!
What’s your number one insider tip for Sydney?
With the huge range of restaurants along Victoria Street just a short walk away, try something different for dinner every night. Time to Vino is a super hot wine bar located just underneath the hotel that makes an amazing Bellini, try it out.

Rydges Oasis Resort Sunshine Coast
Why is this hotel your pick?
Rydges Oasis Resort Caloundra is located just one hour north of Brisbane – making it an ideal escape for domestic and local travellers. Caloundra is known for its amazing beaches, cafes and shopping – the perfect relaxing Easter break.
I love their ‘hotel spa room’ deal which includes brekky for two.
It is a great option for anyone who loves resort style accommodation and great value for money (who doesn’t!).
What’s your number one insider tip for Caloundra?
An absolute must is to check out the local beaches and Pumicestone Passage. There are some lovely cafes to enjoy a sneaky cocktail!

Which hotel would you recommend for Easter?
All Seasons Phillip Island Resort – their four night studio spa villa is an absolute winner.
Why is this hotel your pick?
All Seasons Phillip Island Resort has always been a popular choice on lastminute.com.au. The Studio Spa Villa over Easter is a fantastic deal. The fully self-contained spa villa is the ideal base for a relaxing long weekend. Having a full kitchen gives you the option to save a few dollars and prepare some meals yourself. The resort also has its own onsite restaurant and bar, and a wood fired pizzeria so eating out is easy too.
What’s your number one insider tip for Phillip Island?
Phillip Island is well known for their Penguin Parades (definitely a must see) but the restaurants, Cowes shopping precinct and chilled out beaches are what keeps me coming back for more and this resort is just a few minutes away from all of that.

Which hotel would you recommend for Easter?
Stamford Plaza Brisbane
Why is this hotel your pick?
The Stamford Plaza Brisbane is one of the city’s most prestigious landmarks superbly located on the banks of the Brisbane River. The views are exceptional from any room you stay in (always a good thing!).
If you stay over Easter, you score breakfast & parking. CBD’s are always a good pick over public holidays as the corporate crowd isn’t travelling so there are bargains to be had.
What’s your number one insider tip for Brisbane?
Brew, tucked in at the back of Lower Burnett Lane in Brisbane’s CBD, isn’t much short of a hidden treasure. Just when you thought you couldn’t get good coffee in the Capital of QLD, Brew has now put Brisbane on the coffee map.

Cable Beach Club Resort & Spa Broome is an iconic property with direct access to the beach. With 22 kilometres of sun-kissed white sand and turquoise water, Broome’s Cable Beach is justifiably world famous. The five star property is like an art gallery with priceless artwork and antique pieces on show.
