Chill out in Cape Tribulation
Sick of city life? What if I told you there’s a place where you can see the stars at night, hear the sound of waves crashing against the shore and the gentle chirp of tree frogs?
No horns tooting, no engines revving. No traffic. No people shouting or lights flooding through your bedroom window while you’re trying to sleep. Complete serenity.
The place is Cape Tribulation.
Located a two hour drive north of Cairns and in the heart of the Daintree Rainforest. “Cape Trib” as it is known to the locals, is home to some of Australia’s rarest animals and oldest living plant species. There’s something to see everywhere you go – cassowaries, bandicoots, frogs, turtles, electric blue butterflies, crocodiles, the list goes on and on. This place is living proof of evolution – some sections believed to be up to 130 million years old.
Even the drive up is amazing, with pristine coastal views, a quick ferry ride ($28.00 return) and crystal clear creek crossings to cruise over. It’s the only place where two World Heritage listed sites meet – The Great Barrier Reef and The Daintree Rainforest. Cool, right? If Cape Trib sounds like your thing, check out these must do activities:
