Aussie wine weekend how-to-guide

It’s no secret we love a good vino or two. So it also comes as no surprise we’ve covered our fair share of Australian wine regions on the blog over the years.

So here it is; our best tips for planning a getaway to wine country all in one handy spot. You’re welcome.

Beautiful Barossa

If you love your wine and haven’t been to the beautiful Barossa Valley yet, what are you waiting for? With 150 wineries, a crazy-good cheese shop, quality restaurants and fresh country air, it’s popular for a reason.

Read our top 5 things to do in the Barossa here.

Heavenly Hunter

Just a couple of hours north of Sydney, the Hunter Valley is far enough away to feel like a proper break but close enough to be achievable for a cheeky weekend escape. Brokenwood, Bistro Molines and the hunter Valley Chocolate Company are must-visits for your itinerary.

Read our guide on all things Hunter here.

And tick off these 9 places to eat and drink in the Hunter.

Magical Margaret River

We wouldn’t say no to a visit to WA’s Margaret River region anytime of the year but the hugely popular Gourmet Escape food and wine festival, held in November, is #1 on our wish list.

Magnificent Mudgee

If there’s a region that’s grown in popularity as a wine lover’s paradise, it has to be Mudgee, giving the Hunter a run for its money in the NSW region.

Outstanding Orange

We also have a soft spot for another NSW wine region, in Orange. The accommodation is fab, the wineries brag-worthy and the food scene, a little taste of heaven.

Read our top 3 reasons to visit Orange, plus our Orange foodie picks and of course, our winery guide.

Terrific Tamar Valley

Tasmania more than holds its own in the wine region stakes and one of our favourites is the Tamar Valley, best explored from Launceston as your base.

Yummy Yarra Valley

Not to be left out, Victoria’s Yarra Vally is the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of Melbourne life.
